My mother grew up in a time when most of her peers didn't even go to high school (born 1932). A lot of them got married quite young. My grandfather was ahead of his time. She and her sisters not only went to high school, they had to leave home to do it. She and two of her siblings finished high school and went on to higher education. She became a teacher. Then she got married and had me and my two sisters in less than two years. After she was married, she no longer worked and intended to stay home and raise us on the farm. When I was eight months old, my father died in an accident. She became a widow with three under three at 26 years old. We lived in a rural area with no employment opportunities for unskilled labor. If her father hadn't encouraged and supported my mother's getting an education and a career, we would have ended up living in poverty. Being a "traditional" wife is fine, but life happens. Out of the four women in my family, three of us are widows. My dad was almost 30, and my brother-in-law was 46. So, the best-laid plans and all that.8

My dad had bipolar disease. Even when your man doesn’t die young, I learned young that you couldn’t necessarily rely on a man to take care of you. 🤔 A woman needs to be able to take care of herself and her kids! 💪

65 year old guy from the UK here. Probably not your audience demographic.. Currently lying on my sofa getting over COVID!!. Living on throat lozenges, cough medicine and a good single malt. So scrolling through KZbin and I discovered you lady's. Spent around 6 hours binge watching you, constantly laughing. Thanks for the phrase " Sagging Dragons" I'll take my life in my hands later and ask my lady friend how her Sagging Dragons are. Keep fighting the good fight ladies. It's an unusual thing to find some common sense coming out of America these days.

Ahhh love when us Brits and Americans stumble on each other and get to have a moment of "holy crap there's sane people across the pond still" 😂 I barely got caught up on all the Tory drama that broke over holidays and now all the UK podcasts and news people I follow are blowing my notifications up about the post office, I haven't waded in to figure out what happened yet but from the headlines gather it's somewhere along the lines of the Mone/PPE scandal but on steroids Here's to 2024, general elections, and us getting both our right wing parties to stfu and sit down until they can act right again! 😆🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸

Cannot get over the audacity of Charlotte’s dad! I once rescued a 9 year old dog whose name was Brody. I happened to also have a 9 year old son whose name was Brody. Now THAT was confusing. But we all figured it out and in the end both the kid and the dog ignored my calls. As God intended.

😂😂 we had a dog named General after General Ulysses S Grant when my spawn was born and after a few months I finally settled on Grant as a name because it's uncommon but not "quirky"/weird lol sometimes General Grant the Dog would come up to ppl if they started playing with Grant the Spawn and baby talking his name and he'd look at them like, "I didn't do sht!" because when he would get into stuff or be crazy like only Jack Russell's can be, we'd yell "General US Grant!" 😂😆

I’m right there with you on gum smacking!! Used to work with a girl who smacked her gum everyday. We were in a small office of 6 people and it drove the rest of us CRAZY !! One day, I just HAD IT!!! I went up to her with a napkin and told her to spit her gum out, she did, I put it in her trash can and told her she was making the rest of us nuts. Her boss thanked me, my boss thanked me and that ended her smacking ! Didn’t stop her chewing gum but at least we didn’t have to listen to it anymore.

My mother will invite anyone who doesn’t have a family to celebrate with to our holiday gatherings. She makes my brother, my husband and myself ask if any of our friends or acquaintances have a place to go. She even will make sure they have a gift at Christmas dinner. Regardless if people are family or not everyone should have the opportunity to have human connection at the holidays. ❤

I literally had to block an irate parent from following a ref into the locker room during a Christmas Basketball tourney last week so he could beat him up. Sir, how dare you turn this grumpy English teacher into a bouncer. I got 8 yrs to retirement and get paid less than 50 thousand and now I gotta act like I'm an extra in Roadhouse 'cause your daughter got fouled. No sir, no ma'am. Team could barely get 40 pts on the board and he's huffin and puffin on a weekday.

About the "boyfriend" who criticized his "girlfriend" while she was giving birth. If men were the ones cursed with this painful chore, there would have been only *_one_* generation of human beings. (Edit: About the plumber. The guy should tell his wife the plumber's sad story, and if she has any heart at all, she would be glad to have the plumber for Thanksgiving...unless "I get excited when my toilet gets clogged" is a euphemism, and his three friends were absolutely *_NOT_* into getting their "toilets clogged... ) Also, why do I have to comment on every segment? You ladies have a knack for pulling people into your stories.
