Miss Leah, I was my Dad's shadow and learned much from watching/helping him. I loved seeing things built. He pushed me to get up on rafters, ladders, etc. It came in handy, not have a lot of money, I'd buy bare land and go from there. At retirement i have a place that's paid for. I swept more than one plywood floor. Dad told me, " You build three houses, the third one will be free and clear. Stay away from the bank. He was right. At 69, I'm sad I cant start another one. But i love learning and your videos on fixing things are invaluable. Thank you for being you and generous enough to share your wisdom with us. Be happy and healthy!

Nice, but here are a few things I'd like to share. 1) on that meter the style of valve is not the best. Those are known to either not work when you need them, or they shut off and won't open again, so be prepared. Ideally if you have a ball valve at your house, use that. 2) after replacing the washer, I hold the nut and spin the handle counter clockwise until it stops. This way when you reinstall the assembly the hose bin is fully open, that helps prevent damage when you tighten the nut.

I just found your channel and I would like to say I appreciate your efforts to educate some of us older single women, who have tools but don’t know what they are for or don’t know what the exact process is for using or fixing household repairs. My father passed away a year ago today and left me all the tools and equipment in his shed/workshop. My boys are grown now and I care for my elderly mother. Anyway I’m grateful for all the support and again thank you for helping us be less helpless. 🙏

I wish I had this information last year. My outdoor water faucets were leaking. Just literally a week after the first frost last year (end of October... beginning of November), I had to call the plumber out to my house. And you guessed it he literally did everything that Leah did and he charged me what plumbers charge😩...NOW I know. I will be watching her tutorials from now on!!!

Update: you guys are not going to believe it. I've only used my hose twice this summer but now the stem on the faucet is stripped. Unbelievable I had the whole faucet replaced at the end of the season last year. The main shut off valve is located in the basement of my house. However instead of shutting off the main valve which in turn would have shut the water off to the whole house. But instead and only by the Grace of GOD I was able to apply just enough pressure to turn off the water at the faucet. I know this is only a temporary fix. Leah do you have a tutorial on how to fix and or to replace the stem on the faucet?!? SMH

@@wow4real142 The stem is what she pulled out in the video and then she took the seat washer off of it. Unscrew the handle to separate it from the stem. How in the world did that get stripped? You might be able to find a replacement stem, but you'll probably just need to buy the same model spigot, then use the stem from the new one.

Another excellent video. I had to make this repair for the first time last year on a backyard spigot at a house I was flipping. The valve was extremely hard to turn on/off and it leaked. I bought a new spigot for a few bucks, removed the valve, handle, and washer from the new spigot, and installed them into the old spigot. The leak and the difficulty turning it was resolved and it looked much better. It sure beat hiring a plumber!

Five years later your kid will be making a lot more than you are (unless you're also an electrician or a plumber, that is).
