I'm going to be insulating my hot-water Copper pipe soon. Thanks you this has been very helpful. Since, I have not tried any of this as of yet. I have to ask, what do you do when 1/2" Copper pipe Tees's into a 3/4" Copper pipe do you cut the the 1/2" pipe insulation using the 3/4" pip insulation dimensions so that the smaller pipe insulation fits down on to the larger diameter insulation? Similarly, what do you do if you have pipe size reduction in a straight run or at the end of a Tee or 90?

I have been insulating pipe for 3 decades and I love your videos. Your bevels look super clean. I am using your method now. Are you using JM? If so have you noticed that the ASJ jacket wrinkles a lot?

I’ve only been doing it for 7 years but the JM is awful for wrinkling or even the paper separating from the insulation. I order Manson for exposed/finished work when I can because it’s much less fragile

Great video thank you when you are cutting holes for tees that hole goes directly on the back side. You didn't say much about sides of the insulation you should be cutting when making 90s and 45s

Most real insulators on commercial jobs don't cut 45s on the insulation to make a 90. The butt the insulation up to each side of the 90 then put a plastic 90 around it. More professional looking.

What kristopher said otherwise you’d pookie them but unless they met up perfectly it’d look like dog shit …99.99999% of the time youll be using plastic/ vinyl corners that wrap around then z tape them to the insulation.

Hi im an insulator from UK why did you bevel the end on your first piece of insulation? I've been doing my job for 45 years and have never seen this done.

Typically done at unions,strainers, etc. prevents damage from tools and looks better. Must be coated with white sealer.
