FINALLY A PROFESSIONAL NOT A SHOW OFF BRILLIANT VID MATE KEEP EM COMMING
@reconnaisancesapper11 жыл бұрын
What an excellent clip. I am on a course for Plumbing and renewable energy source engineering and your videos are highly informative......and entertaining. Have you ever thought about being a stand up comedian on the side???? Seriously, again, well done for the excellent video and for being an excellent tutor.

And remember to bring a spare gas bottle! A Rothenberger SuperFire 2 torch, expensive but the best. A heatproof soldering mat, a torch heat deflector guard (Rothenberger 3.1043) or similar is helpful. A washing up liquid bottle with water in it, just in case, and don't use it on hot soldered joints, they can crack! Buy the grips (water pump pliers) that are shown in the video (Knipex, Rothenberger type). Don't buy a cheap pair with a nut in the middle that you have to tighten up. They will bend when you apply pressure and then slip, bashing your knuckles! Colloquially, at British Gas, the type of grips in the video used to be referred to "Gordon's", as in, "pass me the Gordon's". Apparently, it came from the name of the Gordon Tool Company who first sold them in the UK, and supplied them to British Gas (The Gas Board) years ago. Also, any type of spanner or tool that will help you undo nuts that are in tight places, like under a sink or bath, which you can't even see! A set of large footprint wrenches for large nuts, such as, basin (1 1/4") and sink (1 1/2") back nuts. A selection of rubber O-rings and a tin of lithium grease. A selection of rubber, fibre and plastic washers. A tin of WD40 and some 3-in-One lubricating oil. A selection of screws (normal and stainless steel), raw plugs, and plasterboard fixings. Remember to buy extra long drill bits for masonry and for wood (flat and auger type). A set of brad point (wood), twist (metal) and tungsten carbide spear-point tile bits. Bradawl for wood and a metal centre punch. A long flat screw driver, at least 12", which is designed to withstand hammering (metal top). A large 240v mains circular saw and a mini compact battery powered circular saw. A small microbore pipe bender. A proper floorboard lifter. A selection of chisels: small and large flat bolster brick and floorboard chisels; a set of wood chisels and a plugging chisel. An SDS Plus brick removal chisel. A set of masonry chisels, a friggin' big lump hammer and a first aid kit! TIPS: When you drill a plastic tank with a hole saw, keep the 'plastic washer' you have just made to secure toilet cisterns back to a wall without damaging it with the screws. Put a dab of clear silicone on the screw head to stop it rusting inside the cistern, think about your fellow plumbers, or, it might even be you that has to remove those rusted screws! Or, better still, use stainless steel screws and drill at a slight upward pointing angle. This allows you easier access to the screw head because the lip of the cistern doesn't get in the way. Use white bread to soak up water inside a pipe when a stop/isolation tap doesn't shut off the water completely. Put a small bit inside the pipe, it then allows you to quickly solder a joint. Have a supply of brass basin and sink back nuts, cheap plastic ones can break easily. Wear decent hard wearing workwear trousers with plenty of pockets, and, most importantly, with knee pad inserts! Don't wear knee pads that you have to strap on, because they'll cut the blood supply off! A thick waterproof foam kneeling floor mat comes in handy, as well. Non-slip, steel toe safety boots. Take all fire precautions when working in roof spaces.

Hi sir. Thanks for the interesting video. What size channellock plier or tongue and groove type gripper is the most versatile? If you had to choose two or maybe three pairs of pliers what sizes would you grab?

James, I need your advice mate.... I'm a family man with a full time job, bills, etc.... but I want to get into plumbing. I'm looking at these pricey courses and was wondering what your thoughts are on them? No one around here wants help, so it's the only method I've got to learn. Is it enough to get started, am I pissing my money away? The one I'm looking at gives a city guilds, and three week job placement for NVQ. (Able skills) Any advice appreciated.
@plumberparts8 жыл бұрын
Go for the placement and the guilds....but the placement is so important! On site training is where it's all at! I hope you had a nice crimbo! SUBSCRIBE! ➡️👉 kzbin.info 👈⬅️if you haven't already!

Armstrong A same mate completed my NVQ level 2..15 years ago and couldn't get an apprenticeship to carry it on and worked in other sectors. But now at 33 want to get back in to plumbing and need on site experience going to volunteer to work for free on my day off whilst maybe doing a refresher course to help me. But I've learned more from watching 7 or 8 of his videos than I did in 2 years at college.
