Made specially for the first anniversary of the passing of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, "I Have Arrived, I Am Home" is a new documentary from filmmaker Max Pugh (A Cloud Never Dies, Walk With Me). The film includes footage and commentary on Thich Nhat Hanh's return to his native Vietnam, where he lived from 2018 until his passing on 22 January 2022. It also traces his continuation through monastic and lay students at Plum Village practice centers around the world.
The international Plum Village Community is making this film available to everyone for free to honor our dear teacher and inspire viewers to walk the path of mindful living.

What I've found most useful and unusual is the encouragement Buddhists have for others to return to their own traditions and get rerooted. There isn't an emphasis on converting others to Buddhism, but support to be the best of the person you were raised to be. "We need to join together and look deeply for ways to help people get rerooted. We need to propose the best physical, mental, and spiritual health plan for our nation and for the earth. For the future to be possible, I urge you to study and practice the best values of your religious tradition and share them with young people in ways they can understand." ----- Living Buddha, Living Christ by Thich Nhat Hanh.

Dear Thay, step by step you walked 95 years on this earth, I walk now 56 years on this earth and 55 years I didn't heared you. I heared informations and saw entertainment in the media, but there was no narrative of the wonders of life we touch in the present moment. I am so sad not to have met you in your manifestation body and yet so happy that I was finally able to get to know you and your teachings at the age of 55 in year 2022. I promise to share my joy, that is coming from practice mindfulness with all beings and to tell people about the wonders of life we are touching in the present moment. I love you so much dear Thay. 🌊💜🌺 You are in me and I am in You. You are me and I am You. We are all waves of one ocean. 🌺No mud no lotus.🌺🌧A cloud never die🌧 ☮Peace in every step ☮ Thank you all🙏

Ohh my goodness, I feel such a shock too my heart. I'm in tears, I didn't know he had passed away. He and his teachings were just about 1 week ago, brought unto too me. I LOVED this Master right away. He memorized me, he was so pure, Loving and Kind. It is with Joy and Love that my tears are falling today, and happiness knowing that I was brought into these videos and graced with his teachings and his messages for inner self spiritual growth, and how too apply these gifts personally,, as well as walking among our fellow brother & sister, -- human beings. He's not gone, he still lives within me, and around me. 🦋🌞 Thank-you Master, I will miss seeing your human form forever more. Until we see each other again in Spirit, I send you my LOVE, & LIGHT. 🕊️❣️👁️

last September I returned to Plum Village to commemorate the passing of my beautiful wife. It was indescribably tough yet beautiful at the same time. I felt she returned to her spiritual home. I could feel Thich Nhat Hanh´s empowering spirit in the monastics I met. It continues. There is something profoundly reassuring in that. I loved watching this documentary.

Beautiful. My mother passed in January 2022 as well. Its been the most surreal and awakening experience brining me back to my ancestors and more. The mourning process is part of human nature and I connect with many mourning and death goddesses that helped me mourn. As he always says, we teach people how to be happy but we need to teach them how to suffer. Because when you mourn the correct, natural human way without suppressing it; its so freeing and you gain so much amazing insight and wisdom. This is probably why I never resonated with the new age spiritually where they teach “only be positive. Dont be sad. Only be happy” which is unnatural and created unnecessary internal chaos. People who pretend, theres no sadness everything is always happy and good are their worst enemies ❤ peace unto those who passed and continue to shower us with wisdom and blessings.

If you'd ask Thay (meaning 'Teacher') - he would tell you that he did not die, for there is no Birth, and there is no Death. It's all part of one whole. And that if you are attentive enough, you would see him in a leaf or a flower or a drop of water. And if you recognize him, he asked to say 'Hello', and that he wlould be very happy. Thank you for continuing to be the inspiration you are. Thanks to you - I am Home. I have Arrived. Firmly established, in the Here and in the Now. 🙏🏻💙

Dear Thay, Dear Sangha, Continuation , transition, Renewal. Magic to see the Middle Gate opening upon Thay's arrival, after such a long time. This was a very much needed documentary that moved me a lot. Allowing my tears to join the river with those of the nuns and monks makes it all so transitional. A real traumabreaker. Our Father, Our Master, our Teacher is routine for us and thru us will grow I understand. Merci beaucoup for showing me how to hug my pain and see it transgorm drop by drop into peaceful steps. By touching the Earth we get back to the Essence of our Inter Being.

Thay ha lasciato un seme prezioso di amorevolezza e compassione da essere conservato nel mio cuore, nutrendolo e curandolo, cercando ispirazione nelle innumerevoli parole dei suoi libri. Thanks for ever, my Brother and my Teacher!🙏🌹🌷❤️

I will continue to practice & read & learn from his books, talks, and my notes I took at the retreats. Thank you to all who put this beautiful film together, a work of art & love, indeed.

So beautiful! I watched much of the funeral via livestream in the US, and It was so incredibly meaningful for me to feel that I could be a part of it - even at such a great distance. I believe it when I hear them say that it was his last dharma talk

Thay lives on in every single one of us who has been touched by his teachings. Though I never had the opportunity to meet with him I feel a deep connection with him and will always consider him my teacher. Thank you for this wonderful documentary. Namaste 🙏

Life is available in the present moment, here now' ....."If you know how to suffer you suffer much less"... Namo Buddhaya...

This is such a wonderful tribute. Tears of joy and deep gratitude came out. I will be forever grateful for the teachings and will do my best to practice and suffer less in order to help all beings suffer less. My lungs are still working, Thay can use these lungs and breathe with me.
