For those who don't know the meaning behind the theme and lyrics: Pluto in astrology represents change, renewal, and rebirth. . . Pluto reveals our "shadow self" and shed light to the depths of our subconscious. It also has the power or energy to break negative habits so that's why it represents transformation and renewal. . . What do I mean by the shadow self? - The shadow self is generally made up of the parts of ourselves we deem unacceptable like sadness, rage, laziness, loneliness, shame, desires, needs, and deepest insecurities. We supress or deny these aspects of ourselves because we think it's "bad" and "unlikeable". If we ignore our shadow self and not heal it, we may project it unto others and seek to judge or punish others who reflect those traits. . . Here's my own interpretation of some of the lyrics: "Turn off my lonely. I'll sit with my silence. Fix all my conflict." - She is becoming more aware of her own shadow and parts of herself she is afraid and is ready to face it and heal it. "Show me the demons I'm hiding." - Melanie pleading Pluto to help her shadow self to be revelead. "What once a home is a hell I can't manage" - Melanie trying to get out of her comfort zone. "Everything's blurry, I don't wanna worry" - Getting out of the comfort zone and the uncertainty that comes along with it will make you worry and anxious. "The pain from this growing is rough." - Melanie still chose the path of growth (or spiritual awakening) even though it's painful. "Pluto, destroy me. K*ll me off slowly. I'll bathe in my ashes, rise like a phoenix. Show me who I am becoming." - Melanie is now willing to break free and emerge as different version of herself. She is owning her personal power and fully trusting the uncertainty and Universe. . . I would also like to point out that the lyrical meaning of Death (First Song of Portals) coincides with the lyrical meaning of Pluto (Last Song of Portals) makes me love this album more. (PLUS BOTH SONGS HAVE SIMILAR ROCK ELEMENTS INCORPORATED IN IT. SEE THE CONNECTION?) As someone who is struggling to heal, this by far is my favorite song in the whole world. This resonated with the depths of my soul. And let me tell you this now: I👏LOVE👏MELANIE👏MARTINEZ👏. ps: sorry for my English grammar. Hope you like my interpretation ❤
