Just a thought for being tied to the wheel, if you have something nearby, like a big knitting needle, a paper towel roll, a toilet paper roll (the cardboard center things), or anything, really, I've even used small books, if I wrapped loose enough. Just slide the bracelet off your hand onto whatever. Then you can pick it back up when you're ready and haven't lost the loop. I had to learn a trick cuz I had kids and dogs and life when I learned to spin, so I couldn't be actually tied to my work in case of emergency whatever's. Had to have some way to set it down.

Hi Trish, I finished off some spinning and did your technique. There was more than I wanted to do on my hand, soI put it on my wrist and kept the two end together. Then got out my ball winder and w ok und the rest of the bobbin into a ball. I spun from the bracelet first, then the center pull ball. Your technique won, hands down!!! I got the ball center all tangled and it was growly. I learn so much from you and am glad to have you as a source of uplift and encouragement. PS. You are a GREAT spinning friend!
@FiberLoveDiary
@FiberLoveDiary 4 жыл бұрын
That's a great way to figure out what works for you (all that matters, right?)! I have had trouble with pulling a tangle out of a center pull ball, and I feel like I'm often too busy to mess around untangling stuff!

Thanks for sharing. It took me 25 years to try chain plying, which is my favorite plying method now. I should give this a try sometime too. Tying myself to my wheel might be a problem but I guess I can try a small amount to start out.
@FiberLoveDiary
@FiberLoveDiary 4 жыл бұрын
If the bracelet is loose enough, you can take it off and put it on something to hold it, but I always just finish. I'm nervous that if I twist the bracelet too much taking it off and putting it on, it won't come off as easily during plying. Have fun! What have you got to lose?

Thank you for not giving up filming this for us and it is freaking brilliant! I get really miserable when the center gets all messed-up, I definitely would not do too much on my wrist at once. Ya know you could just carry your little spinner to the bathroom with you 😁 You and I love the same colours - my true love is natural dyes for their softness and depth of colour in one sample. I find acid dyes give flat colours in comparison but I enjoy them all. I am not big on the really intense jewel tones. Thank you Trish, this will serve me very well.🙏💕

Thank you. That is easier than the Andean method I think - or maybe I do that wrong. I bought a Handy Andy to help me, and you can set him (it?) down if you need to do something while plying. I love those colors. Right now "She who must be obeyed" and I are dying with natural products. Last week we needed pink so we used the avocado skins and pits - we got a lovely pink. So that must be my favorite color right now - "she" said so.
@FiberLoveDiary

I have one of those tools too, but I still think it's more difficult. Maybe it's just because I was already so used to this way though. I"m glad you have a helper/boss around. That must be fun. I liked it when the kids used to dye stuff with me.

With this demonstration I was able to do this the first time I tried. Brilliant! Thank you, Trish! My favorite color has been purple for years but lately hot pink and aqua (often together) are what are calling my name. As a teenager my favorite color was green, but as a child I remember declaring my favorite color to be brown, lol. I felt like it was the underdog of colors or something. I don't know. Great video! 🙏 I have been using this technique a while now (also from a KZbin video) for my bobbin ends but the technique I learned is a much more convoluted one going around the middle finger and the back of the hand, crossing in the palm and is difficult to remember - I always have to look it up to get started! I’m definitely going to try your way. Thanks

Me too and you described it well. I also find that method makes a bit of a figure 8 where the top can get hung up with the unwinding. Also I learned that method with a spindle (before wheel) and can only remember winding onto the wrong hand -for wheel- plying -so then after carefully sliding everything down to my wrist I then need to carefully transfer it to my other hand! This might be a good way of fixing that old “muscle memory” rut!
