@mr.tomraypaz60853 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I remember the maroon Gran Fury on Short Time. I remember Dabney Coleman’s character driving it during the chase scene and the car was literally getting damaged and blown apart in the process and he drove it, until there was practically nothing left of it.

@sensiblebabyandreality68044 жыл бұрын
These are one of the few domestic cars that will outlast any Toyota hands down. I had the equivalent version of this in Canada, an 88 Plymouth Caravelle Salon, with a 318 2 barrel carbureted motor with lean burn. It was a former fleet car and had 461000kms when i bought it in 2000. I got rid of it in 2005 due to the body rot and engine consuming oil. At that time the car was worth nothing, so I scrapped it with 602000kms on it!

I tried for YEARS to buy a decent Diplomat / Gran Fury police car to 'restore' and make into a top-end sleeper...and could NEVER find one, that wasn't going to cost me $5k to $7k to just get back in 'decent shape' to begin from. Had a REALLY NICE 360, set of 'J' heads, Weiand split plane manifold, 750-Holley...even had the 727 Torqueflite to back it all up...but just couldn't locate the car that was still 'street-worthy' to make it happen! I found a BUNCH of the old police cars 'parted out'...which was when I learned all the things that went into that chassis that few knew of, like the 9-1/4" Corporate rearend that came OEM with a clutched 'Posi' carrier, some even had all-4-corners disc brakes! Heavy duty cooling, heavy duty front suspension, remote mounted (trunk) battery auxillary...even that 'certified to be true-and-accurate' speedometer in the dash (police units were made by 'Sun Instruments'...and looked different). Truly, a world-class 'coast-to-coast touring car' with the A/C...but even though Chrysler made hundreds of thousands of them for various government contracts, IT IS RARE, and often-expensive, to find an 84-88 model that 'had all the goods', and is still in easily-restorable shape!

Nothing says, “I’m an undercover cop!” like a plain jane sedan with dog dish hub caps. Might as well put decals on the car indicating which division you are with.

This is a beautiful car. Your car is a bit straighter than mine but mine has a lot of sun fade. I' have 23000 original miles on mine but your paint job is wonderful. I want to turn mine into a sleeping muscle car. My vacuum lines under the dash are gone but i haven't gotten to that part yet. I live in Texas so i don't need to have heat or cool lol. My window sounds the same as yours lol, scratchy. I'd like to put my atroled out 360 in it but that's another day.

Did the 1986 Gran Fury use a scary buzzer like this 1985 Gran Fury or did it use a chime instead?
@mrmook30015 жыл бұрын
@@moonbeamskies3346 i guess you've seen east coast classics vid. My fury is definitely a mixed bag. Oddly enough it does indeed have a chime! Carburator trouble is the worst thing about it as it randomly stalls at slow speeds or while stopped but that aside its a great car!

The chime was standard beginning with the 1986 model year, but before then, the only time the chime was available is when the Light Package is ordered.

@@JimTheGatorMan This Gran Fury from 1985 doesn't have the Light Package and were there any 1986 Gran Fury that DID use a scary buzzer or did they only use a chime no matter what unless you took out the chime in favor of a buzzer?
