This week we finished insulating the ceiling in our skoolie build! We also placed our furring strips up, prepped the exterior for paint, got rid of any remaining rust, and attempted to put up our plywood ceiling. The plywood proved to be much more difficult on our build with the harsh curves we have, the limited space, and we overall didn't like the look. So next week we'll be trying tongue and groove!

You dont have to cut all the way through the insulation, just cut a v out so it will bend

And why not another layer of insulation? It is cheap and it will save you money. And it will fill that void in between the ceiling and the first layer. You dont want ANY Voids at all!!!!!
@MattMaderic

We decided to pull that ceiling down at the end of the video, and with our new ceiling going up this week there are no voids!! Thanks for the input!

Yikes. Plastidip is a waste of money. Couldn’t emagine doing an entire bus with that crap especially considering you will have to do it again and again…it’s not permanent and not meant to be.

Hey! So I have a random question. How did license and registration go? Cause I’m looking at other youtubers and doing research and they are saying you have to do it within 30 days and it’s kinda tough cause you have to get it passed as an RV. Did you experience any hassle or have a tough time? How did you go about it? I’m trying to save for my bus, and do a bunch of research. Your videos are super helpful! Glad to see another person in PA living out their dream!
@MattMaderic
@MattMaderic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey! So... I hadn't heard about the 30 day rule which may end up being an issue haha, I sure hope not. I had my bus delivered to my home with the title in hand and did not register or insure it since it was just going to be sitting in the driveway for a while, I didn't want to pay for it to sit. My plan and hope is to register it as an RV once it's completed since it will have all the amenities required by PA to register it as that. Thanks for the support on the video!

I'm curious about where your electrical wires will be concealed for lighting and such....just askin
@MattMaderic
@MattMaderic 4 жыл бұрын
The plan is to make a little wooden duct just above the windows to hid away any wires and use LED strip lighting placed on top of the duct rather than using puck lighting placed in the ceiling. Hoping to give it a softer glow... we'll see how it turns out!

Wainscotting would probably have worked much better than the plywood. We ended up going with tongue and groove planks (coming up in this Sunday's video) which I'm loving and very glad we did it!
