This week, we build our skoolie upper cabinets. Framing the upper cabinets in a bus conversion gave me a bit of anxiety. We've never built cabinets, let alone in a bus. We don't have all of the tools you would typically use, and I didn't feel too sure of myself. In the end, we framed the cabinets with 2x2s and installed a 1x12 board for the bottom. We added some trim to the front of the upper cabinets, and now they're ready for doors. We're still making some decisions on hinges and gas struts, but our skoolie upper cabinets are framed up and ready to go. Having upper cabinets in a bus conversion also helps with storage during the skoolie build. As you know, our bus conversion is taking place in a parking lot, so we can't easily make use of a garage. These upper cabinets will help tidy up the bus!

A Kreg Jig would be a nice and not overly expensive addition to your tool arsenal. With it you can make your cabinet face frames prior to putting them up and all the joints will be perfect. The bus is coming along nicely!

Help!😳 I found this video and it has inspired me to take on the yask of building cabinets for my short bus Schoolie. Being that I have “0” carpentry skills, I am terrified when it comes to drilling files in my bus. Question. . .what size screws do I use to drill into my 2x2’s so that I can hang them on the walls and attach my cabinet face? I'm starting from scratch and did I mention I have very limited carpentry skills?👀 please, please help a Sista out. Thanks!

Robert Corbett probably just going to have a trim piece in the back of the cabinet screwed to the back 2x2 which will hide the wires. Thanks for checking us out!

Hi! I am looking for a place to convert my bus because I don't have land or know anyone that does. I noticed that you guys were in some sort of parking lot, where did you guys do all of your construction?

We called local self storage facilities looking for vehicle/RV storage. Then we asked if they minded us working on it. Many said we could not, but we finally found one that said okay. It wasn’t based on the company, it was each individual location manager. Good luck!
