Hi Franco, just subscribed as you have done exactly what i need to do. I have watched your series from start to here on the pm25mv i one go, I have an HBM bf28 vario, which i'm convinced is the same machine(almost)made to EU legislation/spec. I will continue to soke up all the info you are sharing on your channel, looks like you will soon be at 10k, well done.

I bought myself an impact wrange to change tools. This works also very fine, so you dont have to change from the two manual wrenge to the electrical wrenge.

I see you mostly use climb milling, any reason why? its ok for a final pass to get better surface finish but on the heavier chuts tries to pull the bits down into the work and can pull out bits if they are no very secure. With conventional milling the bit is always being pushed away and is far safer on light machines.

Hi Franco, Does the master tool method work for spindles that use ER collets? I know these are not repeatable in the z-axis like tapered tooling is, but would it work if one's tooling had dedicated, stationary collars on their end mills and other tooling? Appreciate you sharing your knowledge, thanks.

Can you give us an idea as to how much we should budget to build the full CNC machine?
@ponydown4184 жыл бұрын
It cost me roughly 2k to convert my pm25mv. Arizona video cnc kit, acorn board, hybrid motors and drivers, etc..
@ADBBuild5 жыл бұрын
Why use that small, LONG endmill to face all that material off when you had a facemill? Run that face mill at max RPM and feed it as high as the machine will allow.

How well did it hold tolerance? I see it was mostly plus or minus .01 but did it hit the dimensions you programmed? Great video btw! Can’t wait to see what you make next on this machine
@FrancoCNC5 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. Part to part repeat-ability, is very good - both vise jaws are identical in the X and Y dimensions. In X axis, the part is exactly what I programmed. In Y axis, the part is 99.8% of what I programmed. Two possible causes: 1.) there is more deflection in the X-axis than the Y-axis; 2.) The Y-axis ball screw pitch is not exactly 4mm and needs to be compensated in the Centroid software. I'll have to make some more test cuts to know for sure, but either way, it's not a huge problem for me. I'm really happy with the mill, considering it's price and size. The surface finishes are really good - better than what I could get on my G0704.

Did you adjust your spindle pot @29:21? Just in case it helps someone, I mapped the PM-25MV control board for CNC spindle control (using hicon). For the Spindle speed, I wired an analog ADC out to J10 (Yellow(1),Black(2),Red(3)) (Black = 0-10V, Yellow=Gnd, RED=nc). And, for spindle direction I used J7 (nc(1),Blue(2),Yellow(3),Black(4)). Black is common. Blue-Black = FWD, Yellow-Black=REV.
@FrancoCNC5 жыл бұрын
It looks like it did. I haven't given Centroid control of my spindle on this machine - but I plan on doing that in the near future. Thanks for the informaiton. Very helpful.

Two quick questions. What R8 collet system are you using that allows you to install and set the tool heights in Mill12 ahead of time? What air system do you have installed around the quill? Btw, thanks for the great videos!
@FrancoCNC5 жыл бұрын
The air system is just a piece of cheap lok-line I purchased on eBay. I 3D printed the yellow ring and clamped it to my spindle. Nothing fancy or special but it really makes a big difference.

What type of face mill are you running. It left an awesome finish. I've been using a Accusize and it works ok, but really looking for a finish like yours.

You're talking about the closed loop drivers? As I recall, I'm at 4000 pulses per revolution on all three axes. My X and Y ball screws are 4mm pitch and the Z it 5mm pitch. Those settings are working really well for me.
