PM speaks directly and eloquently, informed by knowledge in history and updated facts, plus a few touches of humor to state the point (e.g. Mexico says the US is best friend, whether they like it or not). Every word is spoken with specific meaning and nuances. an interview with rich information that’s worth referencing for followup discussions. Thank you.

Liked the PM's insistence to use "Asia-Pacific" ... as opposed to the american who keeps using "Indo-Pacific" which is termed to remove Asia esp China out of the equation ..... we can't let US dictate Asian realities, esp vis China. US wants its allies to cut off China (now that they succeeded with Russia), and it would be most unwise for ASEAN incl SG to do so. India, Aust, NZ has their reasons to use US to counter China, but not for the rest of Asia ... so Indo-Pacific is a really bad term to describe our Asian region, .... any Asian countries using this US term would in fact obliterate its own selves. Japan, S Korea has their other reasons to oppose China, but they still cannot obliterate its Asian being. So we Asians should not use the term "Indo-Pacific".

All countries must respect the international law, respect others political system, culture and ideology. No country can take war in order to take advantage from other. Conflicts between the countries must settled on table discussion. This is essential to keep peace and harmony of the world.

PM Lee is such an eloquent speaker, sharp and practical. His knowledge on international affairs and history is a rarity among international leaders. However I don’t think his audiences understood him, based on the questions and the formation of them. It’s amazing how the same facts can be interpreted so differently.

Mr. Prime Minister: As a Chinese, I appreciate your definition of Singaporean identity that you said you are of Chinese ethnicity, which is consistent with what your father Mr. Lee Kuan Yow declared. We Chinese respect Singapore as a well-organized and diversified cultural blending country, wish Singapore will never choose a side as what Mr. Lee Kuan Yow used to declare, be a bridge between China and the west, that favors Singapore most.

Firstly, good that your answer to his first question was comprehensive to show that you know more than most leaders in the west know how to answer, to the point that he didn't know how to respond back. Next, we Asians should not fall into the western trap of forming alliances against one another.. remember they created the first and second world wars, and so we better stay away from their ways of thinking, ie. confrontational and imperialistic. Finally, I think China hopes to unite with Taiwan peacefully without the Americans an westerners placing a wedge between the two Asian countries. Very sad that the rest of Asians think China in the way of a western (e.g. Russian or American) country behaving in the world, and the way the west are destroying the planet's environment and teaching others how to do it through capitalism.

I find this interview is quite funny..all the westerner "journalists" and the "interviewer" sounds like spoiled kids and Lee Hsien Loong is like that wise grandfather trying to remind the kids right things to do in a very kind manner..

I can see the frustration of the interviewer of not getting the answer he wanted.. basically entire time in the interview, he keep saying Asia Pacific only interest with economic talks and economic talks only. And he keep pushing that the only solution is US to talk with China, US will never find any countries in the region that willing to be the collateral damage of US war..

Humble like his father. Although I am not a Singaporean, I can see why Singapore thrives. However, the move on sanctioning Russian is a weird move and doesn't make sense to me. It looks like Singapore is not as neutral as many thought.

Singapore takes positions, we don't take sides. We have *consistently* advocated multilateralism, adherence to international standards, and respect for the UN Charter. This is because as a small country, we CANNOT allow the idea of "might makes right" take root in geopolitics. If you truly understand Singapore, you'll see that it not only makes sense for us to sanction Russia, we *MUST* do that, not only out of our principles, but also out of our national interests and security.

I appreciate What the PM is trying to do trying to talk the US and China to stick to a framework of negotiations and dialogue to resolve issues and differences. But clearly years ago when the international tribunal dismissed Beijing's claim to much of the South China Sea, what happened? China continue building islands and militarize the islands with bases. China is a country that won't negotiable nor accept international rulings. Period. Make good use of the powers US has now to suppress China's influence before it is too late. As it is now, China is eyeing the Solomon Islands and trying to build military bases there. If the bigger stronger countries don't do something (and fast) to deter all this, there will be no more room for negotiations once China expanded their military prowess to all over the world.

The PM forgets that conquests based on historical claims are not just confined to Russia, but also China. And I'm not talking about Taiwan. Readers ought to know what I'm referring to. Notwithstanding the encroachments by stealth happening on the border between India, China, Bhutan. So, there's a bit of nuancing talk that I can see through.

Shame on Singapore with regard to executing people! The death penalty is wrong, its not a deterrent, and has no place in a modern, civilised society. Shame on you!
