While Rachel Maddow is clearly the network’s star (and rightfully so), I’ve enjoyed the way Matthews seems extremely genuine when he expresses his opinions. I would love to see him square off against someone like Fox News’ Sean Hannity or Bill O’Reilly in a debate over various political issues, though I’m positive that will never happen. Well, the MSNBC host went off on the speech given by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday, referring to it as an attempted “takeover” of our foreign policy by a foreign leader. “I’ll get to the heart of this speech now,” Matthews said. “This man from a foreign government walked into the United States legislative chamber and tried to take over U.S. foreign policy. He said, ‘You should trust me, not your president on this. I am the man you should trust, I am your true leader on this question of U.S. geopolitics. To protect yourself, you must listen to me and not this president.’” “It was a startling situation,” he continued. “To allow someone to come in, knowing that was going to be their message, to the U.S. Congress. This was a decision made by Boehner and certainly complied with by Netanyahu and his ambassador. They went into the U.S. Congress to take over U.S. foreign policy from the president.” And he’s exactly right. This was a clear setup by John Boehner, the Republican party and Netanyahu to try to undermine President Obama’s ongoing negotiations with Iran concerning their nuclear program. Again, I’m not sure how the Speaker of the House blatantly trying to sabotage a president’s foreign policy isn’t grounds for treason. Think about it - what if this ultimately turned out to be the first step toward war? “Think it through, what country in the world would let a foreign leader come in and attempt to wrest from the president control of the U.S. foreign policy?” Matthews asked. “This was a takeover attempt by Netanyahu with his complying American partners to take American foreign policy out of the hands of the president.” I feel Matthews was correct with his assessment. The intentions of Boehner and the Republican party couldn’t have been more blatant unless they had just come out and flat-out admitted that they were trying to sabotage the president’s negotiations with Iran. Though, the reality is, this move was so brazen and obvious that I’m fairly certain that Iran’s leadership saw through this circus and realized that the Obama administration had nothing to do with it. So, at the end of the day, this pathetic move by Republicans will only serve as a prime example of just how petty and childish they can be.

For those who haven't as yet done so, I suggest reading a book by Miko Peled " The General's son." It includes details in the life of his father. Miko Peled's father Matti Peled changed in his years from a man of war to a man of peace. Matti Peled went from being the Major General, the second highest rank in the Israeli military to the first Israeli Professor of Arabic Literature at Tel Aviv University and a founding member of the Israeli Council for Israeli-Palestinian Peace. Matti Peled served a four year term in Israel’s Knesset Parliament. What Matti Peled feared was an occupation of Palestinian lands that would eventually lead to a grassroots rebellion against the Israeli presence. Miko notes his father carried with him on his speeches a rubber bullet used by the Israeli military to suppress an uprising. The thin rubber coating on top disguised the steel within. Matti Peled evolved from speaking on behalf of the Israeli’s established views to that of a man who advocated peace. He firmly believed Israel was much better off making peace than arming itself and maintaining an occupation of land conquered in 1967. Matti Peled recommended the US stop selling Israel its weapons and giving it free money. Matti Peled argued the weapons sold to Israel were corrupting the country and being used to maintain an oppression of the Palestinians, which Matti Peled firmly believed was morally wrong and illegal. Matti Peled did not accept the double standard that Jewish people deserve to live on the same lands as Palestinians while depriving them of their rights and argued it would destroy the moral fiber of Israel.

Israel Shahuk does an admirable job in his book “Jewish History, Jewish Religion” in capturing the essence of the Jewish religious ideology, many aspects of which are probably little understood by many Jews and some will be revealed in this posting. For further details, read Israel Shahuk’s “Jewish History, Jewish Religion,” Jeff Gates’ “Guilt by Association,” Miko Peled’s “the General’s son” and John Mearsheimer’s “The Israel Lobby.” Shahuk notes he was once an admirer of Ben-Gurion. In spite of Ben-Gurion being an atheist and disregarding the commandments of the Jewish religion, Shahuk admits he initially embraced Ben-Guion’s reasons for Israel initiating the Suez War. Shahuk notes he changed to an ardent opponent of Ben-Gurion after listening to Ben-Gurion’s speech before the Knesset on the third day of the Suez Canal war. Ben-Gurion revealed the real reason for Israel initiating the war was “the restoration of the kingdom of David and Solomon to its Biblical borders.” In May 1993 Ariel Sharon formally proposed in the Likud convention that Israel should adopt the “Biblical borders concept as its official policy.” Shahuk notes no one asked Sharon where exactly are the Biblical borders which he was urging Israel should attain. There are a number of discrepant versions of Biblical borders of the Land of Israel which are being circulated by rabbinical authorities. The most radical versions include the following areas which must be included to bring Israel to the Biblical Land of Israel: in the south, all of Sinai and part of northern Egypt up to the environs of Cairo; in the east, all of Jordan and a large part of Saudi Arabia, all of Kuwait and a part of Iraq south of the Euphrates; in the north, all of Lebanon, and all of Syria together with a huge part of Turkey, up to Lake Van; and in the west, all of Cyprus. Many influential leaders in Israel such as Gush Emunim and the late Kahane and his followers not only desire the conquest of those territories by Israel, but they regard it as a divinely commanded act, sure to be successful since it will be aided by God. It seems a sacrilege that God’s name is mentioned in the same sentence with such a pretentious ambition that will inevitably result in the death of hundreds of millions, with nothing more than a scorched earth remaining. Israeli-Jewish society and the diaspora Jews who lead Jewish lives and are organized in purely Jewish organizations can be said to have a strong streak of totalitarianism in their character. Leninists followed the principles of Marx and Lennon and Hitler’s movement in Germany that led to earth shattering ends began with a similar totalitarianism of thought. How can Israel’s pretentious, totalitarian ambitions be any different. Shahuk brings the reader’s attention to the definition of the word “Jewish.” According to Israeli law there are three methods to recognize someone as “Jewish.” The first method incorporates the Talmudic definition of who is a “Jew” and who isn’t, a method followed by Jewish Orthodoxy. By this means of recognizing someone as a Jew, a person is considered Jewish if their mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother were all Jewesses by religion. The Talmudic and post-Talmudic rabbinic law also recognizes the conversion of a non-Jew to Judaism as a method of becoming Jewish, provided the conversion is performed by authorized rabbis in a proper manner. The “proper manner” entails, for females, their inspection by three rabbis while the person is naked in a “bath of purification.” The term “Jewish” also requires the person has not converted from Judaism to another religion, in which Israel no longer considers the person “Jewish.” It does seem rather odd three rabbis must see a woman naked in a bath before allowing her the right of becoming a Jew. The state of Israel officially discriminates in favor of Jews and against non-Jews in many domains of life. Such discrimination includes the right to work, the right to equality before the laws and residency rights. The discrimination in residency is based on the fact that approximately 92% of Israel’s land is the property of the state of Israel and is administered by the Israel land authority according to regulations issued by the Jewish National Fund (JNF), an affiliate of the World Zionist Organization. While a Jew is not prohibited from taking residence or opening a business anywhere in Israel, according to these JNF regulations, the non-Jew is not permitted to reside or open a business and often cannot work in Israeli lands. This last condition, the right to work, is not strictly adhered to, though it’s not uncommon for the Agriculture Ministry to take measures against “the pestilence of letting fruit orchards belonging to Jews and situated on National land be harvested by Arab laborers,” even if the laborers, though not Jewish, are citizens of Israel. Israel also strictly prohibits Jews who settled on “National Land” to sub-rent a part of their land to Arabs, even for a short time. Those Jews who do so take the risk of being punished and facing heavy fines. Alternatively, and not surprisingly, there is no prohibition on non-Jews from renting their lands to a Jew. Shahuk explains the “Law of Return” and how only persons recognized as “Jewish” have an automatic right of entry to Israel and of settling on it. Jews who emigrate from the former USSR for example receive an absorption grant of more than $20,000 per family. Perhaps we as Americans could take the billions we normally give away to Israel every year and instead, provide it as a means for displaced Palestinians to return to the Palestinian lands, including those lands occupied by the belligerent occupant. “Belligerent Occupant” is a term used by the UN in referring to Israel, who illegally seized land after 1947 UN partition mandate. It seems the Palestinians who endured the abuse and remained in the occupied lands should be equally compensated as well, not just the Palestinians who fled to neighboring countries. How about the United Nations advocating that every Palestinian family who resides in or returns to UN appointed Palestinian land territory are given a grant for $20,000? As the Palestinians immigrate, the US could do its part by using all of the money we normally hand to Israel each year as a gift. What’s the chance such a policy would occur with so many Congressmen bought by AIPAC, such as John McCain, Lieberman or Richard Durbin? Land once considered the “State of Israel” is now being evolved to mean the “Land of Israel” as the greedy self-serving Likud party and Netanyahu believe the lands they seized since 1967 belong to them. These additional lands are viewed by Jews as “redeemed,” since the land is seized from non-Jews. As noted by Shahuk, it is this ideological principle of lands being redeemed by Israeli Jews, with God’s blessing, that guides their action, rather than the Israeli propaganda such acquisitions were based on “security needs” in the land takeovers of the 1950’s. the mid-1960’s and in the Occupied Territories since 1967. The Mossad and Israel have committed many acts over the years that have remained unknown to Americans and British citizens, mostly due to public propaganda. Take for example the Mossad’s Operation Trojan, a basis that eventually led to the American bombing of Libya. For years the Zionists and AIPAC have had the reigns of America’s news media. Even such atrocities as Israel purposely attacking and injuring 70% of the US sailors aboard the USS Liberty on June 8, 1967, the most sophisticated communications ship in the world in 1967 and Jonathan Pollard stealing an estimated one million pages of intelligence with Israel’s complicity has remained unknown to most Americans. George Ball notes, Jonathan Pollard is how Israel stole our cluster bomb technology and sold it to other countries. Americans fooled believed the official story by Israel the attack of the USS Liberty was a case of mistaken identity and Jonathan Pollard was acting as a rogue agent. George Ball’s “The Passionate Attachment” and Jeff Gates’ “Guilt by Association” are worthy additions for your personal library and include the truth about the USS Liberty and Pollard. Read these two books and have there be one less fool. Israelis must oust the right wing Likud Party and seek peace with the Palestinians, with equal rights for all, dismissing any and all Jewish Ideology that foregoes equal rights between the Jews and the Palestinians. Without doing so, there’s really no hope for Israel to live in peace. Norman Finkelstein, Miko and Matti Peled, Israel Shihuk and many other authors love Israel and fear its eventual downfall if the right-wing Likud party continues to hold a death grip on its political policy, advocating they are doing God’s work as they seize lands of neighboring countries. Such thinking will lead to war, not peace. This death grip involves Israeli soldiers shoving their boots onto the necks of Palestinians. There will inevitably be a pushback from many Muslims of the world who will come together and provide a much more concerted political front in opposing Israel’s ambitions. Measures that follow will be far more influential than radical, Islamic fundamentalists strapping themselves with bombs. Muslims in the US can potentially influence and shape US foreign policy as much as Jews and Zionists, especially if non-Zionist Christians realize how we’ve been duped the past sixty years. Once the US is no longer opposing UN sanctions against Israel, there will be a retribution Israel must finally payback. There will be a shame Israelis will have to acknowledge, much like the Germans who learned of the atrocities committed by Hitler. Israel’s policy of ethnic cleansing will finally come to an end. Solutions to a world crisis are found in the hearts of men and women who seek peace, not in the evil, self-serving distorted principles that often our leaders are guided by instead, that the end justifies the means.
