Severn Valley Railway - Autumn Steam Gala (2024)

The Severn Valley's autumn steam gala is arguably the premier steam gala of the year and this time round there was a distinct LMS feel to proceedings. The star guest for this year was 45596 'Bahamas, the double chimney mainline Jubilee was supported by fellow mainline loco, Black Five 44932. The third guest and for many the star of the show was the former Lancashire & Yorkshire Saddle Tank 11456 which is now sporting its resplendent LMS livery and for its highlight, it was paired with four LMS coaches for the full effect. The final guest if you can call it that, was GWR 2999 Lady Of Legend, which is once again visiting the Severn Valley. The homefleet were in attendance as usual.
The gala was held over four days from 19th September through to the 22nd of September. This video was captured over the first three days. the gala was effected by low cloud over the Friday and Saturday which refused to melt away so the video is of rather gloomy nature though there was a few bursts of sunshine which made an appearance but very rarely. Regardless of the conditions the gala was an enjoyable one with some good performances in places and some exceptional timekeeping across their busy timetable.

Great video, in particular I loved the shots of 45596 at Bank Farm Crossing (was somebody using a drone?) and at Little Rock, and then the 7714 coming out of Highley with the driver playing a tune was a classic branchline scene!

Great work, I noticed the audio at 25:39 of Bahamas going into Bewdley Tunnel doesn't match what's happening? The audio's either from 75069 or Hagley, going by the whistle
