You know what I find most interesting about steam locomotives? They sound alive, hissing and huffing, their whistles are their voices, calling out to seek attention. Their fire burns like its beating heart and their water is the blood which runs though its body, such marvelous machines.

These beautiful old steam trains have bought back beautiful memories of when I was a young girl, we went up north on the flying Scotsmen ❤, in the early 60s and my love for steam has never died, my dad and I use to go to traction engine rallys we drove a burrel dad was controller and I steared it was the best day's of my life ❤ 💙 😀

3802 departing Llangollen Station and my Dodgy Black 5 Brother passing Berwyn on a goods train. Thanks for including this. You captured 3802 when she was borrowing Foxcote Manor's tender. You've made my day. I saw Rood Ashton Hall four times if I've got it right. Rood Ashton Hall is my new favourite Great Western Tender Engine, and I haven't even met her in the flesh yet. But I do have the Shakespeare Express Train Set in Bachmann 00 gauge form.

This video is an excellent artistic and technical achievement. To combine so many technical brilliant shots, many with that elusive "moody" atmospheric lighting in HQ video with HQ sound is probably unique. And a brilliant mix to boot. Very well done!

WoW Now that's what I call an absolutely excellent compilation. I thoroughly enjoyed watching and being able to see and hear the full train, counting the carriages they passed. It was also nice too see some of the old stations so well maintained and fun, for me, too see if I still remembered how to pronounce them. This video brought back many good memories of my youth and train spotting days in the UK. Thank you for sharing :-)

I started to watch this out of mild interest, then suddenly realised I was starting to get emotional! What beautiful machines they are. How do I find out how to go and see one in action and why are some emitting white steam while others emit dark smoke? Layman here! lol

It still amazes me after 70 years how those little cylinders of steam move hundreds of tons of train. Great vid thank you.
@stuartdixon95523 жыл бұрын
They are not small by any means. The A4 cylinders for example are 18" diameter, by 26" stroke; and of course they have three cylinders.
@sirjohng13 жыл бұрын
@@stuartdixon9552 :I was referring to the Cylinder size in comparison to the physical size and weight of the train which makes them appear small. Agreed, for a steam engine they are pretty large and certainly pack a punch. The amount of human effort required to feed them with sufficient steam was just about at the maximum possible in the space available which, presumably, is why the Americans used oil fed firing ultimately to pull larger trains.

Cheers Steve, stations nowadays are a lot harder to film on than what's shown on here, mostly due to Facebook, radio and local paper advertisements of all such steam movements. Prefer the rural/lineside locations but you don't get the excitement factor of a loco at full pelt through a bustling station !

Superb compilation to keep us on the boil in these pandemic days. Top notch ! Just one observation, the caption on 35 mins for Braunton needs the spelling corrected. One question I have for which I have never had a definitive answer is "why do we have to have a diesel tacked on the back in so many instances ?" Many thanks
@MarshSteamVideosTM3 жыл бұрын
Some destinations need a diesel for turning or dragging a steam loco back out of a terminus and on some occasions the loco upfront is deemed under powered for it's train. Thanks for pointing out the typo, though Its now too late and cant be changed. Thanks for your kind words. Regards, Liam
