I am wondering how many of these comments come from true musicians or even people who have actually spent some time listening to PMC speakers. Guys please, don't just repeat garbage you've heard someone else regurgitate or mention in passing. Unless you've spent actual time in a studio with equipment and then listened with your own ears to this brand, you have no business commenting. Musician out!

Indeed and not at all that special. Its for making mediocre to terrible drivers play ok. I'm astounded that they actually show them assembling particle board cabinets. yes there was some mdf but... particle. LOL Just LOL Silk purse out of a Sal's ear yall. total garbage. 20 years ago they got lucky being connected in the industry and knew there was a need for monitors and got contracts... Yay they won the biz lottery.

I think their professional monitors are good, but their consumer line seems a bit disingenuous. They don't even bother with well rounded edges to help diffraction. They sure do it for their monitors, but for the lowly idiot consumer they must think, "why bother, they chase hype and design over substance anyways." And to me, a transmission line that has audible sound emitting from the opening is little different than a glorified bass reflex design (which in theory I loathe). It's additive sound that is simply delayed and therefore out of phase. Even if time aligned to be additive, instead of destructive, bass reflex is delayed noise. No wonder it's the ugly step-child of sound reinforcement. The best designs are transmissions lines that lean toward being aperiodic, or simple aperiodic designs. These are not intended to allow much sound if any to escape. They merely provide some venting relief to mitigate impedance problems that sealed designs are prone to. Sealed designs can build up too much pressure that acts negatively on the cone.

@@666hobart Yeah sure you're right! Apart of... most of the greatest studios in the world, everyone thinks they make garbage product. They probably stayed in business on top of their game for 20 years because of pure luck! Also, because they were SO lucky, the BBC replaced their LS3/5A with PMC monitors. Pure fucking luck right?! There wasn't any particular need for monitors dude. JBL was around, Roger too. They had all the best manufacturer of monitors in England and the best studios, they came in the game and blew them out of the water. You're SO clueless I'm done. ALL cabinets are made of particle board because a cabinet has to be as acoustically neutral as possible... MDF is acceptable and HDF better. ALL speaker cabinets are either made of MDF, HDF or acrylic. And then veneered or painted Only open baffle designs - which are no bueno for studio monitoring - are made out of solid wood. This is *basic* knowledge of speakers...?? Seriously you audiophiles need to get your head outta your asses. You think that you can hear the difference between a gold-plated terminal and a standard one blind-folded in a bathroom, but hey, PMC are garbage speakers! The greatest engineers in the world have garbage ears. And the artists too! Prince, Elton John, Amy Winehouse, Metropolis studio, BBC studios, just about ALL feature-films, the best mastering engineers, all those people are clueless! You guys know much more than us, lowly "professionals", about speakers and music, since you spend the same amount we use for a full-fledged studio on a set-up to listen in your bedroom... Right. BTW Anonymous, PMC feature some aperiodic designs like the DP-1. All speakers are compromises and no design is the better one. Oh and BTW, if you're such an expert... notice how the cabinets featured here have diagonal lines. To help with diffraction. Simply another way of doing it...

@@utubecomment21 PMC are certainly not designed by a "real acoustic designer", only they're used by pretty much ALL major studios in the world with Metropolis studio being the most legendary those days mixing on PMCs... And the list of artists include Stevie Wonder, Prince (RIP), Amy Winehouse (RIP), Elton John etc etc... And the number of engineers stating they would never go back to anything else than PMC monitors is staggering. With their very first product, they had the BBC replacing their legendary Roger LS3/5A with PMC monitors. But they must have been designed by clueless people!! Obviously, someone claiming to be a *real* acoustic engineer is much, MUCH better than whoever are the random noobs over at MPC! They never claimed it was anything "complex" anyway?! It's not that special. They don't even have any patent for it. But it works so damn fucking well that they set the standard 20 years ago, not for the clueless consumer, but for the best ears in the world. But definitely, yeah, a real engineer would say those are bad speakers, that sell because of marketing. Sure. Oh and Jeremy, their mid-range driver is an insanely complex design, and they build all their components in-house, even the cables. Even the PCB boards...!
@jas_bataille

Wow what a real deal this random "engineer" is! I mean, he set-up his glorified TL towers in a small bedroom, parallel to the wall, with no space whatsoever between the wall and the speakers?! Wow. "They're not really designed to be an imaging pair" - ... a pair of speaker *is* design for stereo imaging. Otherwise it wouldn't be a "pair". WTF?! "...But, they have great stereo separation" - did he meant *frequency separation? Or instrument separation? Soundstage? Or like great "stereo separation" almost a super-stereo effect like the 180 degrees effect you get on headphones?... ??? Do this guy even knows what he's talking about at all? Also I heard distorted, digitally boosted bass. No way those drivers response is not affected by putting the bass venting this close and this big. Those bass ports are waaaaay too big...!!! Like yes it's going to give you some bass, and to distort it like there is no tomorrow. Seriously it looked like he called his dad or something to come in his bedroom and praise his design being completely clueless about speakers. Sorry. I don't wanna be rude but if he was a 100th time as good as PMC's engineers his products would sell like hotcakes...

Just mediocre mdf cases, with foam at prices that are way too high. Nobody cares about the best veneers, just put some thin layer of wood on it. Don’t get me wrong, the units are good and so is the sound. But they have to be made in China, good quality at half the price.
