The definitive ending of Explorers. When I downloaded Explorers’ soundtrack in 2016, I had a bunch that this was for Special Episode 5. Good to know I was right. Here’s a fun fact that most don’t know: I arranged like 99% of the tracks in order from the Sky Jukebox. So, when I got to arranging this track, all I could think of was, “this is it! The final stretch! Let’s go out with a bang!”. It was this drive that kept me going to deliver perfection, and exceed all your expectations. I hope they were met. I do think it’s interesting that there are woodblocks used throughout SE5’s soundtrack. Please enjoy!

gosh i love this song. its one of the songs in the game that truly sounds like it doesnt belong on nintendo DS of all things, it sounds so mature and bleak, but a sense of hope shines through the cracks. this sounds great!

Oooooh shit, lets GOOO! The Part alot of us have anticipated the most! And i absolutely understand your feelintgs with wanting to go out with a bang and just firing up the fuse with this is already a success! Love the Violin Part with the repeating "Future" Leitmotif, the rest is also lovely remade! I swear, some say it as an exaguration, but showing the entire Soundtrack of PMD1/2 as a POrtfolio alone could get you a spot within Spike-Chunsoft!

It's the theme of this special episode. Meanwhile the three note motif at the start of the song is the Darkness motif, used in plenty of evil-sounding songs.

I really love this track I consider being Grovyle's Theme, a shine of light, full of hopes and dreams in this desperate and dark world that is the Future. And yet this song has this little sad part relate to Grovyle's sacrifice and future dissapearance. But even if he knows he's not going to be here For a New Life, he is happy. Your arrangements are beautiful as always, and you did a wonderful job with "For A New Life", a true blessing, thank you.

i always theorized the wood blocks symbolized grovyle, he IS the wood gecko pokemon afterall, and maybe the wood has a symbolism for life/nature

meanwhile, the future is filled with ghost pokemon, aka nonliving(or dead) creatures. that wood sound plays in the first song of Episode 5, and the last song of Episode 5, the credits theme, there might be some more symbolism there but theres so much to keep track of in this ost that my theories get jumbled lol

I think the flute represents Grovyle, and the violin Dusknoir

That’s one way to look at it! I only considered the flute to represent Dusknoir cause of Living Spirit. I consider that song to be his theme in a way.

@@olive_expert You could be right - my reasoning was mainly that the 'Hidden Highland' track is strongly associated with Dusknoir (it first plays during the 'reveal' in Deep Dusk Forest, and also when Dusknoir's plan was revealed at the end of Icicle Forest). The violin is very prevalent in Hidden Highland, so I connected that to Dusknoir. The flute doesn't play in the future (at least I don't believe so) until you join up with Grovyle at Dusk Forest (interestingly, the beat of the Dusk Forest track perfectly matches Grovyle's hopping animation in the dungeon). Admittedly, the flute also plays in Hidden Highland, but the violin takes the center stage. Makes me wonder about Treeshroud Forest, I haven't heard that one in a while, but I remember violins playing there too. There's an oboe there too, iirc. It sounds serious and somewhat unsettling due to Grovyle sensing that something is wrong with the forest. I love how the violin and flute finally join together in the track 'In the Morning Sun', when Dusknoir's and Grovyle's hearts finally beat as one. Excellent arrange you did by the way :-)
