"Waves lazily lap the shore, shimmering and reflecting the bubbles that waft across the painted sunset on this cool summer evening. The world seems too still and calm to be dying. But as time itself slows to a standstill from the theft of ancient relics, life is leeching away from the once vibrant lands.
Enter Malachi, a partially evolved Shinx appointed by the mysterious "Maelstrom" as her champion. Problem is, neither of them quite know what has to be done to save the world. Matters are only complicated when an amnesiac Alolan Vulpix washes ashore with her own mysteries to solve. As our heroes meet new friends and foes alike, they find that they may be involved in something much greater, much larger, and much more sinister than any of them bargained for.

Just some info about when chapter 8 is going to start. The voices sounded a bit soft this time. Maybe upping the volume will help. Can't wait for the rest. 🙂 ((((End of Chapter 7 news Author Notes: 24th Aug 2023, 7:00 AM ... And that, finally, is the end of the chapter! What a doozy, huh? Explorers was really set on stuffing quite the dungeon gauntlet in this chapter, and I almost considered forgoing my goal to keep chapter breaks consistent(ish) with the game and add a split when the team actually began the expedition. It's kinda fun having a huge dumpy chapter though, can't wait to do it again in chapter 10. Also, a big shoutout to ShuSquirrel for sponsoring one of OBT's Monster House Marathons this year! This chapter would've gone on until November without your support, and I know I for one am very happy to have the support to work on my dream project without worrying about bills for a month! As per usual, OBT will be going on its planned hiatus while I prep for the next chapter! OBT will be returning on September 26th- a month-long break instead of my usual 2-week break because this chapter was quite large, and I need a little time to decompress and get my buffer back. And maybe give my hand a break, I actually injured it during this last 20-page stretch to the point that many backgrounds were done with a mouse on my non-dominant hand lmao (it's mostly healed now, so worry not) In the meantime, a new special episode is updating on Patreon for $5+ tiers, featuring a certain Nidorina hosting a definitely-not-D&D campaign! Like all special episodes, of course, it'll be released publicly as well at a later date. I did increased the volume as loud as I can without hurting anyone’s eardrums (and mine), but it was more the way I had to edit out background noises (vaccum, tv, static, etc) from a lot of the VA’s mics, I will be sure to bring that up with everyone next time!
