Just bought it, set up a flight from Kingsford Smith in Sydney heading north, flew up over the Hawkesbury then pulled a yank and bank for a high velocity return to Sydney with some aggressive maneuvering to get it back down on the runway. The screams of terror and cries of "I don't want to die" from the passengers was a nice touch. Well done PMDG.

Just picked up the 146 myself a couple days ago, it definitely takes some getting used to the older style autopilot after coming from the CRJ 700 and Citation CJ4 ("where's the vertical speed knob?"), but I'm loving every bit of it. I'll probably get the 737 later when they release the 800.

Just as amazing as I expected, plus one pleasant surprise I wasn't expecting was how realistically the wings flex up and down while looking out the passenger windows. I don't remember any other simulated plane doing that the way this did, and it really adds to the immersion. Definitely looking forward to picking it up when they release the 800. @@yasinparti4385 that's an argument. I don't know if you have to pay the full price if you already own one of the others. For me, I'm happy with the 700 version and don't need the other ones.

@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Yes Yasin; the pricing model works well if you only want the one variant (I expect many will only really want the 800), but the costs certainly add up if one wants the whole family. To be fair, I gather the differences between the various airframes are more than cosmetic (some systems differences etc for example), but it would have been nice to get a discount when purchasing multiple variants. I think the reason that PMDG have moved away from this pricing model, is simply that the in-sim Marketplace doesn't support it. Cheers and all the best! : )

Those are some incredibly fluffy seats. Looks like a pretty decent plane. It ain't for me but should please the ravenous hordes of tubeliner fans out there so good for them! Those customisation options looked quite tasty. I did read on the forum thread that there's no actual full manual for this product, a decent tutorial flight manual but it doesn't cover everything. Apparently PMDG used to license out the real life docs from Boeing but not for a few years now. Still you'd expect a nice and precise manual from the Precision Manuals Development group eh? Ah well, I'm sure the tubliner fans already have extensive collections of various jetliner real life manuals they can use. Tickles the funny bone a bit though considering the name. Cheers for the great vid as always. Been slowly catching up with them the past week and only a couple more to go unless you do something dastardly like release half a dozen more in the time it takes for me to get around to watching them!

They are very fluffy indeed! I wonder to myself how many fps all that fluff is costing me XD I thought exactly the same regarding the manuals (and it was something I had meant to mention during the video actually). I'm sure it's not cheap and perhaps not easy these days, to offer these things out to the public (and as you say, most of this stuff is readily available in the public domain at any rate). All that being said, we have seen some great custom documentation from other devs and it does seem like a dev calling themselves PMDG, ought to have some good sturdy books behind their product haha. "Releasing half a dozen more vids in the intervening period". . . no comment XD Thanks as always! : )

@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ton, Thanks very much for the pointer. I was aware, but the reason I do it this way, is simply to avoid being heads-down, trying to hit the click-spot on short final. Taking out the auto-throttle altogether is not ideal of course, but at least this way I can focus more fully on landing the aircraft - it’s a little concession given the limitations of the sim : ) Cheers and all the best!

@@IntotheBlueSimulations Just map it to one of your joystick button. If you use a Hotas there should be plenty of options available on the throttle and if you don’t use a Hotas, then you should get a Hotas. I was waiting for the step from LNav/VNav to Appr mode? You seemed to go to ils without any mode selection? The aircraft does a nice autoland, you may want to show that if you do another video. Thanks for this one, she's a beauty!
@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Yes, unfortunately that got edited out. I had some hardware issues on the approach (not through any fault on PMDG's part) and had to record the scene again - I cut things as they logically fit together and that did necessitate cutting out the mode selections. I did of course change the modes to fly the ILS though and no problems there. I did try an autoland with the 737 and whilst it worked, I found it a little bit less than optimal. The aircraft got itself down on the runway just fine, but there was a bit of oscillating coming down the glideslope and it didn't quite get itself down on the centerline (or track it very well thereafter); it's always tricky to know with MSFS though, perhaps I just got unlucky with that particular ILS etc. I will give it another go at a later date for sure. My pleasure on the video! Glad you're finally able to enjoy the 737 : ) All the best!

@@IntotheBlueSimulations LOL - imagine trimming an aircraft !!!! Notwithstanding its excellence, I don't think I'll get the PMDG-737 as it's "too much like work" - you'll know what I mean. My airline gets the Max next year so I will have my hands full with real life 737 flying ! Ironically, I am waiting for the Fenix A320 as it's an aircraft that interests me. I will be watching your review when it launches and am more interested in your assessment of its systems accuracy. In general, for flight sims, I tend to concentrate on DCS and BMS given my RAAF background. A couple of minor points with your video. We use the Left Fuel tank FWD switch ON (instead of the AFT) to feed the APU on the ground because it activates a scavenge pump to first use any remaining centre tank fuel to feed the APU (yes there can be residual fuel in the centre tank even if it indicates empty !). On the first flight of the day or crew change, the ignition select switch is selected to Right (because it gets its power from the AC standby bus and it confirms the AC standby bus is being powered) - for subsequent starts, Left is used. The fire test is done by first selecting Fault/Inop to check integrity of the detection system, then Fire/Overheat and finally, over on the right there is the extinguisher squib test (it has two positions, check three green lights illuminate in both positions). Nomenclature: they are "Start Switches" and "Start Levers" (yes I'm being picky but you are up for the challenge...). We set V2 in the MCP for takeoff, not V2 +10. We start engine 2 first, then engine No 1 (unless we are doing a cross-bleed start (APU bleed inoperative) , then we start No 1 first on the bay - because the air cart is plugged in on the right hand side). In my airline the engine bleeds are left on all the time - unless in the rare instance you are doing a no bleeds takeoff for performance reasons. On finals, we carry a minimum of 5 knots above Vref. After landing, the flaps should be up (they were at 1) and you inadvertently selected the No2 start switch to GND instead of off - did you notice the Start valve Open light illuminate when you shut down No 2 ? - we don't want to do that with an engine running ! Great job though and I thought a very fair assessment of the PMDG 737. As an aside, if you want some more detail on procedures, 737NG Driver has a great series on youtube and is a real life 737 driver as well - kzbin.info/door/Jku5jC23Y0MkmPqU7CZhog Oooooh look @49:24 a Virgin Australia 737 - how about that ;-)

Thanks. Tested for a week - very impressed. A ton of details adds to immersion. The split second delay when switching to r/h bus. Detent when starting APU. Almost everything is correct. A very few details are missing . The heavy Clank! noise when moving stick opposite of trim, but the trim stops correct. The sound of spark plugs is missing. Cross bleed start works. I tried with low duct press to provoke a hot start or hung start, but not simulated well. Anyway it is simulated as intended. In flight restart works fine. Hard to fly and set up restart alone, but find the correct altitude/speed envelope I guess a windmill restart works. I added x-bleed and the slow gain in EGT and N2 feels correct. The study level is very deep. It deservers a much larger Ops Manual. For now - it feels like going to a 5 star Michelin restaurant and order a hot dog. PMDG 737 airliner and Milviz Cessna 310 for GA. That's understandable IPTDB - we all have different preferences when it comes to aircraft fidelity etc. The PMDG 737 does come with the option to select the aircraft state, ie you can select the aircraft with the systems configured "ready for takeoff" etc (though one would still need to set up the flight computer, configure the autopilot etc). I'm still a little disappointed with their pricing and release schedule. To sell each variant at full price "sounds" like it's better for the customer but in reality, it would've been nice to just have an option to buy 2, or all 4 variants for a package price. Because of this decision, I'm only going to be buying the variant I want the most (-800).

On takeoff i don't get vertical magenta line (climb guidance) without vnav being turned on, when it's turned off i get nothing, only horizontal line is diplayed during takeoff, only when i pass 3000 feet and tun vnav on is when line shows up on display, what am i doing wrong? Airplane is set up correctly, as far as i understand, all the neccesary data is put into fmc, course and heading are also correct, both FDs are on, so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong?
@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Hi c1berg, Haha, well I mostly fly Airbus too, so I'm perhaps not the most qualified person to answer your question: I did a couple of trials in different configurations, to see if I could replicate the same behaviour - I didn't seem to be able to. The immediate possibility that springs to mind - are you using the TOGA push button for the takeoff (either on the throttles, or the hidden clickspot on the MCP)? Without it, I suspect you won't get any vertical guidance (outside of VNAV). If you're just bringing the throttles up manually, then you won't be getting the correct modes for the takeoff. Does that sound like it could be the issue? I hope that maybe helps? Cheers and all the best! : )

@@IntotheBlueSimulations Yeah, i figured it out few days ago, you're right it was TOGA button, i thought the plane would auto activate toga on certain trottle percentage instead of pressing the button, it's hard getting out of an Airbus mindset when flying something else. Thanks anyway.

When i "end" my flight and I park at the gate. The game doesn't think i have arrived and still showing all the taxi ribbons. But if i take another aircraft it ends the game and saves it. Does anyone know what this is causing? Now all the nav/taxi ribbons are still in my screen instead of ending the landing->taxi sequence. I know i can turn it off but i do use them, and normally they turn off themself? Also the rudder does funky stuff while other planes it works fine.
@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mx5, Well the sim does now have the option to turn off the “End Flight” logbook page, so perhaps the PMDG 737 does this by default (I’m not sure). Also, different things seem to trigger the end flight window; ie sometimes it’s cutting the engines, sometimes the avionics master, sometimes the battery etc. So if you aren’t completely shutting down the 737, perhaps that’s why you aren’t seeing the Logbook page? The rudder options can be changed in the FMC / CDU. You can choose to have rudder and tiller operate together, or off of separate axis. I’m guessing perhaps you have them operating off separate axis and that’s why you’re getting the strange behaviour? I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )

I think you are right, people are going to get what they were hoping for with this one. Although a study level aircraft, it looks like something newer users will get enjoyment from as well while learning it. For me, that makes it a great product. I know there has been some criticism of the price, but I bought a PDMG 737 base pack with the 600/700 extension for FSX in 2017 and this new 2022 product with it's higher fidelity everything is cheaper. It looks to me like very good value. Thanks for such a thorough review. Good wishes. :)
@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Yes; I don't think that the MSFS version necessarily pushes any boundaries, when compared with what PMDG have achieved before, but it's PMDG, they already set some of the highest standards around - and they have certainly delivered on what they were promising. As far as "study level" aircraft go, I think the 737 is a good starting point in most respects. It's a fairly intuitive aircraft to operate; turn the switch on and the system operates, turn it off again and the system stops haha. A little bit easier to wrap ones head around. The price I think is fair. Not cheap of course (and Fenix may disrupt the whole market there), but decent value for money vs the competition. The new pricing structure is good, if one only wants one variant of the aircraft (I'm sure many will really only be after the 800 for example); it does really start to add up if you want the whole NG family though! Thanks as always! All the best : )

79 USD per 737 version is far to expensive. If I purchase any of these 737, it will be the 737-800. I suggest you all hold off on purchasing these planes till the version you want is available. It makes no sense for me to purchase the 700, then the 800, and never fly the 700 again.
@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kiotee, Value for money is always somewhat subjective of course, but certainly if one ends up buying the whole family, the costs rather add up. So yes, if you only want the 800, it certainly makes sense to wait for that, rather than just purchasing the 700 because it is out now. All the best! : )

Why did you press a screw when you set toga
@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Hi AarnDub, That screw is a magic TOGA switch haha. It's a little hidden clickspot, that allows one to set TOGA more easily during the takeoff (rather than having to look down at the throttles). I hope that helps. All the best! : )

@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Dan, glad you enjoyed it. The coughing was audio I added in myself actually (just for a little bit more immersion). The PMDG doesn’t have any such sounds by default, but you can achieve a similar effect with FSRealisitc, should you so wish. Cheers and all the best : )

@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much 494, glad you enjoyed it! I don't have any crazy clever settings tweaks I'm afraid, but I'm certainly happy to share my settings: - “High End” preset - Pre-Cache = Ultra - Terrain and Object visibility sliders set at 125% (sorry, I forget the actual names of them) - Motion Blur = Off - Glass Cockpit Refresh = Medium - AI Traffic = Off - VSync = On / 60fps That gives a nice balance between graphics and performance. I only run at 1080p and without VSync, that will give me around 90fps. The things I’ve turned off / down are known to be famerate hogs. I only run at 1080p as that's all that my monitor supports. That's the main reason I get nice smooth gameplay for the most part. I hope that helps a little. Cheers and all the best! : )

Thanks very much Michael, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, the MSFS version of the 737 is an evolution of the product, rather than an revolution I would say. No massive upgrade on the systems fidelity (so far as I am aware), but then it was already really rather excellent. I'm certainly hoping we'll see shared-cockpit support in the future as well : ) Cheers and all the best!

Hi Victor, I'm afraid I'm not sure. These things usually take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months. It really depends on when PMDG was able to hand the product over to Asobo and how long it will take Asobo to check through the code etc. Usually the more complex the product, the longer things will take, but again I'm afraid I don't have a timeframe for you.
