Thanks Andrew. I believe that speaking up and making suggestions is key to continious improvement. Yet, I do not share the need for more frequent updates on the exam outlines. It does not confuse me that the current version was released in 2021. Assigning it a year just tells me that there will be revisions every couple of years. Compared to IT and Cyber Security Stands, Project Management should not be iterated annualy.

I would agree with you Andrew. A simple addition to the cover with an update each year that says: "Covers PMP exam material from years 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024".
@epapere5 ай бұрын
It’s really not that hard to understand the year. 2021 was the last time they did a major revision of the exam. So it makes sense that exam guide is 2021. The numbering scheme that you are suggesting makes me think of college courses, or levels to the credential which is not the case. The other way I have seen this used is when a credential requires multiple exams in order to achieve a designation or credential. This also is not the case with the PMP.

I disagree...it should be PMP....only...and upgrades happen through regular PDUs
@hustleravenue5 ай бұрын
I guess they should just call it exam content outline, leaving the year out.
@SwathiKashyap945 ай бұрын
I would disagree also. Giving it a year deems the certification outdated for the following years to come. Given the current frenzy that is, the job market, companies will no longer recognise PMP as the standard, but will begin to set out requirements based on the versions of it. Here's an example - "We regret to inform you that we will no longer proceed with your job application for the role of Project Manager as we are looking for candidates with PMP 201 and you hold a PMP 101". Organisations or recruiters, more precisely, rarely know the difference in certifications' content/syllabus. All they understand is the title and as long as the title reads PMP, this holds value. Else, there's no point.

It makes sense. And yes material should he labeled in a way that doesnt cause additional questions/frustration for the consumer.
@SanataniJoe5 ай бұрын
Andrew, that is bad idea. When going for job interview anyone can say your certification is too old. PMI don’t listen to him. Keep it as PMI.
@AndrewRamdayal5 ай бұрын
But when you tell an employer that you are certified from the 2021 ECO, wouldn't that be an issue with the employer?
@SanataniJoe5 ай бұрын
Just say ECO why you need year? PMI document says when was ECO revised, that is good enough. PMP is not the exam which needs revision every year. Andrew, you are confusing people here, once you talk about ECO and then about exam. Not against naming or numbering ECO but exam should remain as PMP
@AndrewRamdayal5 ай бұрын
If you put a year on it, like it is now, then people will assume there is new one every year. Keep the name as PMP, but give the ECO a number, not a year.
@Rahul_Senchou5 ай бұрын
Andrew you can always say that you're certified based on the latest ECO issued by PMI

It actually says PMBOK® Guide - Seventh Edition. 2021 is only the year of edition.

I dont agree... it will create more confusion. The current system is good. The exam is based on the exam content outline, and books are the reference guide from which u can prepare for the course.

I disagree. The way it is currently is fine.

I think, they don't need to specify the year on the exam outline and i don't agree with your numbering idea. May be from making money perspective you are right. Becuase you have to retake the new exam to renew yor existing active certification as cisco do which i beleive senseless.
