Debut 3-song vinyl release by PMS 84 from Portland, OR. I saw PMS 84 a few times when I was on tour on the West Coast, and discovered that the band features some East Coast transplants after learning that the guitar player used to be in Koward. Whereas Koward was more or less a d-beat band with tough mid-tempo parts, PMS 84 is much more pogo-ish and catchy. I detect some serious UK82 influences like The Partisans or even Ultra-Violent. What stands out most to me in the band's sound is the super up-front, chugging bass playing and the snarling lead vocals. PMS 84 comes across as wanting to be faithful to classic punk bands that influence them -- everything from the sound of their recordings, right down to the gorgeous packaging of this 7".
