You are correct on the slant of the pickup. When he installed it he nailed it in, and the hammer hit the corner of the pickup and cracked the plastic. One night he got the high E string caught under the pickup. When he pulled it out he broke the small piece of plastic off of the pickup. He said it changed the sound, but he liked it. When the professional guitar builders reproduced the Frankenstein, they said now we have to build a brand new broken pickup.

Hi Dagan, nice presentation and yes I actually wired in my neck single coil using a push/push potentiometer and it sounds fantastic and no drop in volume between the two pups, that neck pickup is absolutely killer. 🤘🎸🔥☠️

Yes, you can wire the neck pickup. I've done it and it is an excellent pickup for getting SRV and other neck Strat tones.

I was at the GS today at the Nashville store and was playing one. The sound did not have BODY, I noticed that with the EVH Fraks it is hit and miss. You must try them out before you buy one. When they are good it is amazing. I also, loved the neck..

Eddie never cleaned the neck of his guitars. He also never used any kind of wood oil on the neck. He thought the oil from his fingers were all the neck needed. He felt like it added to the sound of his guitars. His guitar techs were told to never touch the neck, or pickup. Basically all they did was change strings.

The tremolos only have 2 springs so that they aren't so rigid. The red Frankenstrat has a D-Tuna on the Floyd Rose so you can quickly go from E to Drop D.

I'm pretty old (51) and i don't remember the frankenstrat, i remember the kramer 1984/5150 as being the first EVH guitar i saw, like on Live without a net and like he played on Beat IT.

The Frankenstrat guitar is what Eddie used to record all the first 5 albums and the most used guitar by Eddie

My strat uses tone knob on the volume pot, it confuses people till I remind them the knobs aren't glued to the pot 😂

I have both, the neck feel on the frankie is so much better to me, but the EVH 78 is louder..I kept the frankie and sold the 78.

Eddie put the selector switch there as he wasn't sure how to wire the guitar if he took it off so he just screwed it to where the centre pickup was so he didn't have to mess with it

You need to do a long detailed video on the '78 by Seymour Duncan, SH-4, Frank, and Wolf comparisons. Slow down talking and make a documentary video. Put it on DVD with as many hours as you want to take. Song analysis and everything. Write a book! I'll buy a case and watch it in detail over again. That's at least 3 cases. Would you like a bag boss? A bag of what? Talk about his pedal board and how he used the Boss CE-5 when that chorus was analog, I've seen it on one of his vintage pedal boards! Then we can have a physician see who more f@$$ed up! You or me.
