I bought a secondhand one a couple of years ago for stage use and it's amazing. The synth engine is huge and very capable. A nice visual editor for the Mac would be fantastic to make the most of it for sound design. The Roland editor is grim but you can edit from the synth itself. Sound quality is professional.

I bought the device two days ago. Some time ago I asked you if you used a daw, and you told me you used a pattern sequencer. But in the video I saw that you played for a few minutes with the use of the sequencer. Is there a way to record in a way that you demonstrated more than 8 mejer, that it is about 16 seconds? How do you do it? If you have a reference to the guide, i will be happy if you do that for me.

The sounds are amazing. only bad thing about this keyboard was the key size. They are just shorter and also skinnier than normal…it was aggravating to play for me. The 88 has weighted keys and I didn’t want them, so I returned it. It’s a bummer because it’s such a great keyboard.

In theory yes, but I dont really think its the right keyboard for the task. Your better off just using it as a midi controller and just leave the synths on your sampler. The sample playback on this things very old fashion and clumsy.
@Surferess3 жыл бұрын
@@shayneoneill1506 I agree with you, It is clumsy. You would do better to just write that drum beat inside of Ableton or Protools if you are going to use the external DAW anyway.

I've got the 76 and while its good its also a bit frusturating. Theres a really really powerful synth under the hood, but its just buried under an incomprehensible menu system, and I feel like we're back to the old DX7s again. Though unlike the old DX7s this thing hasnt really got any good library editors, well except for the official one which frankly is pretty cooked. Its pretty good as a stage synth, but I dont recomend it for tweakers, as this things , for the most part , a preset machine, unless you *really* enjoy deep menu dives
@user-tn2nl5gt8t3 жыл бұрын
How do you like the weight/lack of/general feel of the keys? I played on the ds88 but found it to be weighted to the point of a type of delayed, disconnected feedback going on.
@floridahiker15032 жыл бұрын
In the edit screen there is tabs across the top Wave, pitch, tvf, tvf env, tva, tva env etc in Roland's typical order. If you know subtractive synthesis it's easy to figure out. Not a good sunth to learn subtractive synthesis on. It's quick for me because I start with a patch close to what I want and just do some waveform, filter and envelope edits.
@birdslivehere6402 Жыл бұрын
@Florida Hiker yeah, and many aren't willing to dive into that 4 partial architecture. Like the JD 800, you can make some nice evolving sounds since each partial is it's own synthesizer. It fascinates me that people listen to and/ or play the presets and call it a day.
@TranceCore3 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's got a very capable everything in there, if you're willing to deal with primitive controls and very extensive menu diving. I personally am not. The Roland Fantom has similar features, the touch screen and myriad of dedicated controls makes it a one stop shop, no matter what model you're looking at. the module itself is probably worth having. my Fantom has hammer action keys. But this is a synthesizer, and weighted keys only make sense on pianos in my honest opinion. So having a backup keyboard with some synth action keys would be a good idea

great video but just one question ..is this a keyboard or synthesiser?? I'll appreciate someone reply me ..t-you =)
@afterstars2 жыл бұрын
Technically both but this is a synthesizer. The keyboard itself is the actual instrument, whereas a synthesizer by itself is not actually an instrument. Keyboards often contain a synthesizer, whether it's simple or complex, but they don't need to have one. But a synthesizer by itself is not an actual instrument - it's more like a controller. A synthesizer is much more complicated than the keyboards by themselves.
@Jason759132 жыл бұрын
@@afterstars I don't like your explanation. Plenty of synthesizers lack keyboards, so you add your own controller of any kind with a 5-pin DIN MIDI connection. All valid instruments. elmero mero wants to know if this is an [arranger] keyboard or a synthesizer, it is indeed a synthesizer and not an arranger. An arranger keyboard is also a synthesizer, for his information. A subtractive synthesizer with sample-based digital oscillators and digital architecture, but a synthesizer, nevertheless. This applies to digital pianos, too, so what differentiates a digital piano from an arranger, and from a stage keyboard like the Juno, etc. is the feature set and what situations it is meant for.
@afterstars2 жыл бұрын
@@Jason75913 actually he asked if it’s a keyboard or synthesizer. And again The keyboard itself is the actual instrument, whereas a synthesizer by itself is not actually an instrument.

@@afterstars we'll just agree to disagree on how we define "instrument", and no, that's not what average joes think, they tend be confused as to what is what, and a "keyboard" refers to an arranger/workstation keyboard and a synth is something that "specializes in electronic sounds" and "should be avoided" as "less than ideal" for a keyboardist who is very interested in an arsenal of sounds that includes "good" acoustic sounds your post doesn't answer his question, or even comes close to And all of these posts may go over his head as his chosen username indicates he is probably Latin American or Spanish, he might know a lot of English and he might not.

Great demo. Packed a lot in. I've got one of these and great keyboard which you can do almost anything with. Only slight let down is the small screen and non-intuitive UI but this isn't unique to Rolands and a constant disappointment in 2020 that a keyboard can't be more intuitive and user friendly. Scroll wheels and buttons....not touch screen. So 80s! Tut-tut!
