If you want a great variation of the typical '50's neck carve and prefer something a little less "baseball bat-ish" I highly recommend a later model Les Paul Traditional. I have a 2017 that has a "rounded profile" that is in between a '50's and '60's. Very comfortable. That year is unique and also has rolled fingerboard edges.

Seems like the big differences are having "Slash" written on it and the Pickups. Everything else is the same. You could even swap the pickups in the 50s for Seymour Duncan Slash signatures and it be even better than the Gibson made pickups they made for his core line. Both have great paint jobs too. Great video.

ha ha, I just checked, you are spot on. the paint job looks very different too, it's almost faded to just a little bit of black around the "horn" area, like a couple of black blobs. it also doesn't have the black back, doesn't look anything like this one... still, doesn't matter I guess, it comes with a free top hat and partially burnt Red Apple Cigarette; if you get the deluxe model there is a little baggy of dust from outside that very church, just so that you can throw it up in the air when you hit the solo...

There is some shady secret connected with Slash pickups. Slash himself said that for the live purposes he uses a bit overwound pickups, but there is no place when their specs are listed. Why is that a secret? EVH pickups are, after decades of irritating hiding, finally with known specs: 14k alnico 2 for a bridge position.

I liked the particular top so much (VERY unique, not the typical pin strip flames) and the tones as a contrast to the sounds of my other LP’s so much I kept it. Very raunchy like this guy says. I just couldn’t get on with the neck (have smallish hands) so I committed the cardinal sin and sanded it down to a thickness in between 50’s and 60’s profiles and refinished it in a couple coats of Truoil. I much more prefer his old setup of his first signature amp (Silver Jubilee), his old guitars, the normal Alnico II pickups and Monster Rock cables. I don't know, I didn't notice any difference, and it would be best to do it blindly, because when people hear Slash, they immediately think that it must be better and sound better, it should be, but is it always like that, today I watched Slash say that vintage guitars don't sound good always good and it's the same with the others, it's true that Gibson is currently taking advantage of this whole hype around it and how they raised the prices skyrocketingly, I'm not a guitarist but I love rock n roll and guitars, I have a friend who has a terrible collection of old guitars Gibson 335, Tele, Stratocaster, Gibson GoldTop Deluxe are all old guitars more than 50 years old, he also has a Gretch White Falcon and some others and he can never get enough because he loves it and has his own Blues band, it always amazes me how and why people who play and know how to play don't at least buy a good vintage guitar, either Gibson, Fender or some other brand, ok, I know they are expensive but man you love it, you still play if you have or plan to have a band, you need equipment and tools, I said I don't play, I know a few chords and I intend to buy a Gibson LP standard up to €3000 and a solid amplifier up to €1000 if only I had it because I love it and I can make a little noise, and even better, he would be happy to lend it to friends if he needs it for a gig, because these things do not lose their value, I know they are expensive but I think that every guitarist should make an effort to earn and buy what he likes, in the end it can always be inherited by a daughter, son or grandson, so guys, grit your teeth, try a little harder to earn money for a good guitar, I'm sure you won't to be sorry, as a child I started and wanted to play, but you couldn't buy a single quality instrument here, there simply weren't any, so I quickly gave up and switched to motorbikes, and they are my first love, I bought a Harley 1200 Roadster a few years ago and arranged it to look like a bobber, it looks sickly good and now it's time for the guitar, Gibson LP Standard !!!
