This video is awesome and definitely not pointless, just too short, we need more Dagan Mayer
@brunovidana78373 жыл бұрын
The key to Mayer’s tone (aside from dynamics) is focusing on getting your clean tone BIG and powerful while staying clean. A compresor usually does the trick if you don’t have a hi wattage amp. Think along the lines of Hendrix’s tone.

Calling John Mayer a Stevie Ray Vaughan rip off is like calling Stevie Ray Vaughan an Albert King or Jimi Hendrix rip off, which is like calling Jimi Hendrix a B.B King rip off. The point being the in the world of blues, EVERYBODY is just ripping off Robert Johnson🤣
@semiografo4 жыл бұрын
I think most cool tones I like from Mayer come from humbuckers from his PRS "normal" guitars, specially from the Continuum album. I'm more satisfied trying to reproduce that tone with my Gibson Studio than with my Fender USA Strat.
@robertevvers94934 жыл бұрын
To me, Mayer was his most original on his first 2 albums before he ventured into blues...cool chords and funky and definitely more pop...but it was really special...he improved as a guitar player 10 fold since then, but the sound of "Room for Squares" truly grabbed me and made me pay attention, along with the rest of the world. Also, "Neon" off his debut album may be the best guitar riff he has written

Over the years each player has added so much more to what was done before. For instance Mayer does the BB thing better then BB. Just like Stevie did the Albert King stuff better. There all great I don’t really like comparing but oh well that’s just how it is

What a great way to present your products. I can´t buy them to be sent to Norway, but I love the enthusiastic way you present any type of gear. Great to see people who love their job. I do love my job too, though I am just running a small factory, but enthusiasm is contagious. Love to see any type of guitar, amps or gear you present. I am going to open my own guitar shop when the time is right. I am fifty, but I hope I´ll be as enthusiastic as you when that happens.

Doesn't he also use a Bluesbreaker pedal? There's a few good copies out there, for very little money, like the Mooer Blues Crab. Has more sparkle than the centaur or tube screamer. The sound (especially distorted) in your videos mostly strike me as very mid-humpy, I'm not quite sure about the reason. Even with a Strat/Fender amp setup, which should be the exact opposite. It was the same with the intermediate guitar video. Maybe it's the mic setup? Or the room? Anyway, the vids are enjoyable, so way to go.

@fragtagninja16334 жыл бұрын
@@noahbergman7777, the guitar was released in 91, he died in 90, and the guitar released was very different than what he told fender he wanted it to be. His vision was something much lower end for kids. Fender did the opposite of his vision. His guitar was a frankenstrat made up of various vintage strat parts because of all the shit that broke on it over the years. Including the neck which had a speaker cabinet fall on it and break it. Best they can tell it started it's life as a 59 standard. But the Texas specials are nothing like the pickups on his number one, and they were never in his number one. The SRV sound has nothing to do with those pickups.
