PMUP Practical Multipurpose Utility Pump

In this video Terence gives a brief introduction to the new PMUP utility pump. This 24VDC pump connects to the 1Link accessory connections on the 1Link module or the new Energy Bar 832. Alternatively there is also a model that comes with its own 24VDC power supply so that you can use this on a legacy Apex without a 1Link connection or for anyone that wants a great utility pump for their ATO, reactors, or for many other aquarium uses.

I have this pump setting in my Skimmer overflow. It is plugged into my FMM and I wanted to put a float switch, connected in my breakout box, in to control when to activate it. any ideas on the where I go to set all this up?

Can this be used with a Kalkwasser reactor like the KW reactor 300 shown in the video? In their instructions they recommend another brand pump that is rated for 230gph. On your site it says this pump is only 100gph...

I've seen in this video you are using the PMUP with your apex ATO magnet. It looks attractive to me but will the float-valve shut the PMUP flot in case of sensor failure??!

Yes. This has been tested and is the intent of that float valve - to be the backup for when electrical shut off fails - it will also work with standard RODI output as well.

Using this for AWC instead of getting a genesis Renew. For programming I would need two float switches? one for the high point to stop refilling and ATO and then one for the low point to stop drain and trigger refil?

This might work fine for very large tanks, but for the average aquarium we would suggest using the DOS to do AWC.

Sorry, no official release date, but we are getting much closer now. The FMK is with our NSI team right now and will be on the shelves very soon. After that the NSI team will get the ATO product (yet to have official name) and then the general public.

can this pump be run at 100% duty cycle? i.e. could I feed my Calcium reactor from this guy, or is a maxijet better for that application or better yet a peristaltic pump?

Yes, it can run continuously. We have run them here in our office for 18-months straight, without cleaning, as the primary return pump on a 10g nano reef tank. That said, this is not a good solution as a Calcium Reactor pump as the flow rate is too high.
