Thanks for the insight. After watching this I noticed my 8001 was hitting 2w, straight out of the box. I also couldn’t receive anything. Slight adjustment to 4w and the world has changed, what was a dead radio now has people on every channel ! Many thanks from southern Spain.

I think we'll leave that one until I play the Tango Towers full size (commercial model) Hammond electronic organ for you, which because of the 'on hold' building work here is not accessible at present. I will do it though. Today I'm hopefully finishing off "Midland 98 revisited" & will record on the Tango Towers 1877 Conacher pipe organ at the end, so people can choose not to view that bit. T21

I play the trumpet and often work with organists. Would love to hear you play.

I bet you love it when you find out the organ isn't tuned to A=440, so you have to do a solo instead. I'm only aware of one of the six pipe organs I play in churches around here being 440...and that's the one I installed at Kelby a few years ago. I went to the extra expense & trouble to do that (needed sharpening about 3 semitones). You have to cut a carefully calculated amount off every organ pipe to do that. Luckily it is a small 1 manual organ & only has about 250 pipes. Richard

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 The big churches in Edinburgh went through an arms race of getting big new organs in the 90s and the main churches are all at A 440 with these incredible modern instruments. I have experienced that issue though and as I play trumpets in Bb and A I can usually get to lower pitches. Pipe bands are in 468 and are a real nightmare as you have to pull the main slide and transpose up a semitone.

Hi, sorry for the unrelated question. I have my midland 77-104 uk that i had in my vehicle. I was wondering if it would be any good as a home rig with a suitable antenna? Would i need boots for her
@ukfmcbradioservicingTango214 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with using a 77-104UK as a base radio, with a suitable regulated power supply (radio max consumption is just under 2A @13.8V. However, what's all this 'boots' stuff. UK licencing allows 4W output...that gets me 35 miles on a system that's supposed to be 16Km according to Offcom. Keep it lega l& stay away from the burner brigade who selfishly spoil CB for others. No problem with the organ playing. Proper technology. I don’t know the factory, but fairly sure it’s a nanfone / zastone product originally. Best regards Tim.

I have a new device and I already noticed a problem with the relay. Sometimes, when the device is warm, it won't switch the relay back from transmit to receive. Only after lightly tapping the device, return the relay.

I did a bit of digging via Chinese trade web sites. These seem to originate in Fujian, China and the only manufacturer of radios that I can find there is Fujian Senhaix Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.
@GordonHudson4 жыл бұрын
Actually it might be more likely to be Lisheng (Fujian) Communication Co., Ltd. As they list CB radios as something they make.

Hello i think that jumper posts on the radios are for high low power .
@ukfmcbradioservicingTango214 жыл бұрын
The only jumper post (near the VCO) I could spot I assumed to be the VCO test points, but without a manual or circuit it's all an educated guess.

Yes re the organ music.One question is where do you get your trim tools from? 73.G7HFS/PA3IKH.
@ukfmcbradioservicingTango214 жыл бұрын
Ian, the yellow trim tool comes from RS components, the black one originally came from RS too, but they discontinued them. The green plastic one is part of a TV alignment kit that sometimes is sold via Ebay is the 'States. I've been told Rapidonline currently do that kit in the UK which would of course be much cheaper. If I lost our black trimming tool, I'd have to make one with wooden dowel & flat phosphor-bronze. richard

Very few radios even manage the EU & UK legal limit of 4W these days. We manage up to 35 miles base to mobile on 4W. The UK government says ;expect up to 16Km range on CB radios, so we are far exceeding that totally legally. Aerial height, quality & coaxial cable quality by far help the range rather than illegal power levels. Richard, G0OJF, UK

It was a fellow amateur radio licencee's birthday the other day which I heard them discussing on the local 70cms repeater GB3GR near Grantham, 7 miles from here (I'm the repeater keeper & owner). He was saying he was 76. I managed to resist the temptation to play '76 trombones' on the Hammond organ I also have here, so my licences are still intact! Richard
