Good video. I just bought one When the Tx power is set to "low", like yours here, I measured 1.5w transmission power. When I set it to "Hi", I measured 3.9w. which is what I want. P.S. my SWR is 1:1.2 (very low)

The only thing I like about it is the green LED changes to Red on TX. I also like the frequency display, but that is not the actual frequency is it, just what it should be for the channel. The squelch is crap! I won't be buying one, even f it does do the 4 watts! Thanks for the test It does sound very nice on transmit, only thing in its favour.

I have a question... I understood that this model has RF gain. I don't find it.... Is it a combination of holding 2 buttons and turning it on, like when we adjust from Low to Hi?

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 That's ok. I think it was a mistake on the Amazon site. But I do like a reception RF gain control. I've had the 9001 unit for a few days now and find it works fine. I specially appreciate the easy to read screen

hi Richard, I see this radio is the " very old " of 2014 ....Luiton LT-318! Now rebranded PNI from Romania, hi! I wanted to buy it but you write that it has a lot of FW problems, so you don't recommend it what do I buy it or better not? what do you think of the very small PNI Escort HP 6500, also rejected? tnx 73

@@IW2BSF-Rodolfo I seriously don't recommend the 9001, it has serious firmware issues. 6001 test to follow this week. Richard

I did say they were different chassis variants although externally they look alike. Nice to see the progression of the same chassis. If you hadn't notice you were on the low power setting when you adjusted the tx power

I can't see any power setting switch, though I'm sure it has some tricks up it's sleeve for export markets 'use at sea only'. Anyway, it's doing 4W Richard

The hi lo power is set through the user menu when selecting the band

There is no mention of any power setting in the instruction book nor in any menu. It would be nice to have a new radio with a 1W or lower setting as well as the 4W setting. Perhaps you have a different variant or one that's been altered. Richard
