The best quality sleep is before midnight. As a general rule, the National Sleep Foundation recommend falling asleep somewhere between 8 p.m. and midnight. They also recommend 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Power naps are welcome too. Social media detox 1 hour before going to bed is also important to relax. Music for relaxation, aromatherapy and relaxing baths are also very helpful. And as we are product of habit, yes, it's important to have a sound relaxation routine. Because well-being is paramount to success. You cannot perform at 100% if you’re functioning at 10%!

Sleep has been the hardest challenge for me for years, which makes learning and stress tolerance much more difficult. Good night sleep should be considered as the number 1 priority in our lives.

Great book!, although my favorite book on sleep is the book "why we sleep ". My issue is and maybe you can help me with this. I know the optimal temperature, but what about the blanket, because the temperature is irrelevant if you have a thick or really thin blanket. Also how many of us sleep with clothes, this is effecting our sleep also. As well as closing the window actually. It is the rise in temperature that first wakes up your body. But most bedrooms have constant temperature. We need temperature that naturally follows the temperature increases and decreases of nature without the harsh extremes. Hope you have a good night sleep everyone!

Jamie Book Joo Harsh extremes? You do realise what conditions humans evolved from, right? The message is pretty simple, find a routine that is minimally disruptive. You could spend 10 million dollars on a sleep optimisation capsule but the returns would be diminishing. Gosh it surprises me how far some people take these things to shift accountability away from themselves.

What would you recommend for those who often have to be up or out late, like musicians and other performers who do shows late at night? Also, what about those who have side businesses or other creative activities that they do outside and on top of a normal day job?
