The Pnu-Point Pointing Tool video we made back in 2003. A great mortar gun powered by low-pressure compressed air (32 psi/2 bar), the tool has no moving parts, so nothing to go wrong as long as you keep the tool clean.
Buy this pointing gun online at the Pnu-Point shop: shop.pnupoint.c...

How about a podcast on self employed builders surviving difficult times/recessions etc please Roger? It would be a big help in the current climate and no doubt you've got some good stories. Interesting to see some re-pointing videos as a bricky, cheers 👍

Looks like it's quite wet and a bit messy. Seems like it might stain the edges of bricks and slabs. Although if it doesn't I wouldn't mind one as repointing is a pet hate of mine and anything to make it quicker and easier is welcome.

Years ago, I did random stone pointing on very old farm buildings etc after they'd been renovated into dwellings. One of my most memorable ones was a beautiful old building 70'x30'x40' gable ends with very small windows. It was all stone. Took 2 of us 3weeks solid to chase out and 8 weeks to re-point. The idea was to be able to see every stone as an individual with no cement at all on the stone. This gun pushes it out and it looks like it goes everywhere. We pushed our cement in manually, let it go off and then with the side of the trawl scrape it back half an inch then with the point, go around the stone and take off the excess and finally brush off the loose edges with a soft brush. Looked absolutely fantastic when we'd finished with no cement residue on the stone at all. What I want to ask is do you think you could have done it quicker with that tool.? because I think we did o,k.

I use one of those silicone gun type applicators. You must use fine/yellow sand or a sand with no larger bits in it like sharp sand and use plasticiser to stop the sand and cement separating from the water. Works a treat.

I thought this was a follow on from your other pointing video when it showed in my feed. Then it started and I thought, what has he done, had a shave, new hair cut? 🤔 🧐 Then I realised it was an old video 🤦‍♂️ I have used the quick point gun a fair bit on a cordless drill. Can get big metres in with some one following on behind you with it. Cheers 👍

bad n bourgeoisie This was made for the client to send out on VHS. We then did and instore television channel for one of the big merchants. I was working for magazines and DIY publications back then producing encyclopedias and I was then looking at selling tutorial videos. Everything clicked into place when KZbin started.

My experience with the PnuPoint is that the consistency of the mix is critical. I use a much lower pressure, about 0.8bar. You also need to be sure there are no small stones in the mix or it will jam. Once you get used to it it works very well especially on stone as it really does fill right to the back.
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 4 жыл бұрын
That is precisely the problem I have. The building sand often has small stones and even some rendering sand, such as Leighton Buzzard is lumpy.
@katabrontes
@katabrontes 4 жыл бұрын
Skill Builder I always sieve the sand before mixing. I found plasticisers useless with lime mortar mix and use fine powdered soap which works very well. The precise process of the mixing is also critical with lime mixes. Once you get all this right it works very well and wastage is minimal.
