Maaaaate! This was massively helpful! I don’t mind the robot and sub, but the scale limitation really stopped me from using, this helps unlock them both to be actually useable IMO, great demo and explanation 👍

It's so weird that they haven't brought it back since the first generation, I think it would go over really well!

Love this about the sub, it is a shame it's tough to apply but nice to have the option. I didn't know the Factory does this too though as I don't own that one, yet 😁

Yeah the timing can be tricky, but at least it's an option haha.

Factory has some harsh sounds, but it is also a super power. Love it.

You can play all notes on the 33 and it's way easier. Let's say you're in C minor and you want a major third. Enter your notes like normal using step mode except for the major note. Then get out of step mode, set the pitch of the sample 1 semi-tone higher, select your major third and enter it using step mode.

I still have not been able to do this reliably on my ko, but that could very well be because my screen is broken lol.

I discovered this last week when trying to add some accidentals to a pattern on the PO-33. To test it out, today I punched in a chromatic scale from A to A in a pattern. You don't need the screen. Having a keyboard nearby is helpful so you can keep that semitone shift straight.

If you're gonna go for easiest, the PO-128 just has all 12 notes as a standard feature. But being able to figure out workarounds for the older models gets more life out of them

Very Informative! My po sub always does what he wants haha cool to see how you handle it. Do you have any special tips for the "key" knob?

To be honest, I completely forgot to use it in this one hahaha. I need to play with it more and wrap my head around it.

How sturdy are these devices ?

Pretty sturdy especially with a case.

It seems to be a mixed bag. I accidentally bumped my po-33 ko against the side of my camera and the screen immediately cracked. I've also dropped my po-20 arcade from about 4 ft and it was completely fine. Either way, I highly recommend getting a case if you're going to be using them out and about.

hello, is it possible to play note with a cv keyboard (like arturia keystep for example) trough po-16?

So you can't select the scale by holding pattern and turning nob A on this pocket operator? greetings
@FreeBeat2 жыл бұрын
Correct, you can only change the key, not the scale.
@Rene_Berlin2 жыл бұрын
@Free Beat That's a real bummer to be stuck in C/am. That spoils my PO-Band idea. I really wonder how they overlooked that, everything else about the PO is so smart. My first PO was the PO-Speak, where you can select key and scale. So i guess newer POs are just even more thought after. The 128 Megaman can play all major and minor scales as well. But thanks for the tutorial anyways. you saved me from buying and being disappointed.
@Rene_Berlin2 жыл бұрын
I even thought that someone might have made a hack for this but i guess no chance
@FreeBeat2 жыл бұрын
@@Rene_Berlin You can switch to any key, just not out of the basic major/relative minor scale.

I wonder if anyone can help me, even your esteemed self Monsieur Free Beat. I’ve been interested in Pocket Operators for a while now, the PO-14 is what first sparked my interest, but I was wondering what a good all rounder PO is? I’d like something I can just sit, jam and create on. Ultimately I’d like to get the KO but I’d rather try one of the lower priced PO’s to see how I do with it A lot of people recommend the PO Arcade, but as cool as it is, making just chiptune beats might be limiting. Thanks! Edit: keep up the good work dude! Love the content you are putting out
@FreeBeat3 жыл бұрын
The KO would honestly be the best PO for you. Good for composing and jamming, endless flexibility, it's the one you want :) thanks so much!

@@guy8029 Don't know if you have a PO now but would say the Speak is just as good as the KO.
