VC is one of my favorite KZbin cyclists. I know that there aren't really any rules in the unofficial world of Strava KOMs. I think that KOMs should only stand if they are solo efforts. Not a fan of any collaborative efforts. What's to stop someone from getting a friend to lead out with a box van?
@S.Mallard4 жыл бұрын
Dude you could get a kom sitting in the van...
@krazed99184 жыл бұрын
I'd argue they just need to split KOMs. "Solo Effort" and "Group Effort" sections, obviously many cyclist can & will lie, but at least at that point it adds a little more rule. Christopher Blevins (previous KOM holder) most probably had a group effort, in these areas with constant pro and seasoned amateur riders every single KOM is most likely a group effort (save one here or there.) Even guys like Phil usually take KOMs with a lead out.

Hence the height Question and if you’re shorter than me its, end of topic i reckon. Cheers thanks for the vids👌🏻

This is my backyard. I naively didn't realize people weren't getting our local KOMs on normal bike rides, but are targeting one single segment with very specific teamwork strategies to draft, lead-out, and burn everything on a short segment simply to capture a single KOM. Part of it feels like cheating to me, but whatevs. Guess someone could just use an e-bike to capture one too if it means so much.

its too bad guys have to resort to lead outs to get koms. is there a difference with that and durianrider drafting behind his girl friend on an e bike, really. what about just drafting your wifes car then. i guess it comes down to the reason why a guy tries to get a kom. if it was just about testing yourself, your limits and not about social media recognition it wouldent make any sense to get a draft to get a kom, now would it. youd just be cheating yer self, eh?
@alessandrogarofalo9954 жыл бұрын
KOMs are PERSONAL best times, so i don't really get the reason why you should try them in a draft/with a leadout... Yes, I know, it's a team sport, but these are, as their name suggest, personal efforts that shouldn't involve teams...

Phil Gaimon, ex pro, has several KOMs that he got in pro races and still considers KOMs even though there was a group climbing the hill. And more importantly STRAVA considers that the KOM. So technically, if you could get a derney (like the old days) and ride behind that, you could draft a be faster. But chances are... unless you're a straight up beast, you're still not going to be as fast the guys with the KOMs WITHOUT help.

Drafting to achieve a KOM????? Seems to me the effort needs to be accomplished as an individual. Why not draft the entire segment? Heck, just get a buddy ahead of you in a vehicle and draft that. Personally, I wait for a very strong tailwind but I need a lot more help then that lol.
