I’m very much looking forward to my 40s, but I don’t want to spend them training 30 hours a week. I want to spend them having adventures. I’m not down riding, and now I have no regrets or will wonder what I could have been of if I had given my best shot.

That Highway without traffic, awesome! I’ll turn 62 early next year and I’ve already surpassed 5,000 miles for this year, with the majority of the outdoor miles on gravel. I’m not as fast as I was, but riding the bike, freaking epic! And, as a melanoma survivor, my advice to everyone is to wear sunscreen! I didn’t and that wasn’t a good plan and for me the damage is already done. Don’t be me!

I totally agree with you - there are way far more important and interesting things in our life than achieving or even trying professional sport. It is cruel, destructive to both mental and physical health. Enjoying life, staying healthy, cycling, having great times and memories with your family and friends are much more valuable in our life. I particularly like your videos about helping people to get new experiences and emotions, those are truly inspiring!

Great start to the series of daily vlogs. Drove HWY 1 couple of years ago from Carmel down to Cambria and thought a lot about riding this road on my bike... Maybe one day. I noticed by the way you don't wear your Whoop anymore. You were such a big fan of it. Any particular reason for that? Asking because I'm thinking about getting a whoop myself. Thanks and looking forward to your next videos!
@TheVCAdventures
@TheVCAdventures 11 ай бұрын
I wore whoop for 5 years, Ioved it, it’s a great tool. But I gained all I could from the data it gave me, I found myself only wanting to see calories in/calories out. Whoop doesn’t connect to anything like Strava or training peaks or the macros app I use. The Apple Watch does, plus tracks my runs and swims and gym workouts and uploads them to training peaks. So it’s more about what you want to gain from the tool, Whoop is phenomenal and more accurate than the Apple Watch, but the watch gives me the data I’m after at the moment.

Thanks for talking about food. I feel the same way. Lot of people are like "just eat what your body wants and ride however much you want and your body will find its ideal weight 😊😊" and I'm like bro if I just ate whatever I wanted I would be 4,000 lbs even if I rode every day. I'm currently trying to get to a lower % body fat so I can look better naked, so that requires eating at a deficit. I heard you say you were in a 8,000+ cal deficit for the week... why are you cutting? Trying to look better? Better performance? I ask myself the same questions a lot so was curious on your take

After worlds I went into 10k surplus a week for 2 weeks. Felt like if I didn’t correct that path I was gonna be 200lb + by Christmas. Also, my weeks are pretty all over the place as riding goes, so I may be -8k that week, and +1,000 the next. I won’t stay at that big of deficit once I shed the weight I added.

It’s better in many ways, but my old one can fit a dropper seat post and feels a little more stable on dirt. Not that any ultimate should go off road, but the new one is strictly road and it feels like it.
