This is why I am a fan of Poatan, he is very honest and straightforward. Knows what he did well and what he didn’t. Gives credit to his opponent who is his rival if you can even call Izzy a rival anymore. He is a very grounded man and knowing his past which he shared publicly I understand why he is who he is and makes me admire his character even more. This man conquered his demons and actually improved/learned from it. He is not delusional nor cocky yet he is confident and humble at the same time.

Too bad he talks so much shit just to make all of his fight go to decision during his title reign (besides Paulo). I was rootin for the guy too but no finishes and he’s very fruity/zesty. To think he could’ve been the next Silva… And humble? Dude is not humble imo, talking mad sh*t about a rival who beat him twice at kickboxing, saying he’s (Alex) a nobody whos probably bragging to everyone at a bar that he beat him. You don’t say those type of things unless you have some degree of hate towards them. But I get it he’s salty about losing twice. @@ingaleerus56 is not only possibles to inspire because of his insane resume in combat sports, his story where he defeat alcohol can be inspiring for many, same for the fact that a normal kid from a normal place can accomplish great things and then live a great life with all the comfort , he proved also that is never too late to start something since he started training at 21 That usually can be considered a little late , then for fighters and young fighters his sofisticated and unique stance , his heart in the fights and his skills can inspire you in the gym too obviously .if you don’t have motivation or you thinking that you can’t accomplish something just look at alex poatan pereira

Unimaginable, how it ended the same way as the last they met, yet, unlike when Leon fought Usman, i had faith that he would win. not that he could, but would. The best storyline in fight sports history, in my opinion. I like Israel alot aswell. It's still setting in that po atan actually came to mma, and ufc, as i had wanted to see as much for a while. As soon as he did, i knew they would fight again, that the org would make it for the belt, and that i root for Alex Pereira. He is still underestimated, i think he may well reign untill he retires. Israel will wear the belt again, but he will have to wait, hes younger, and can grow from the challenge. They are both going to be remembered by fighters for a generation or more.

@@Gabriel-xh5vj potentially, but i do wonder how easily Whittaker, or Chimaev, will achieve success on the ground, vs po atan establishment of success on landing an ending combination. Khamzat has not shown elusiveness, which would help him greatly, if Alex strength proves difficult to manhandle. Robert is one of my favorite fighters, but he has not shown the ability to apply his wrestling in a way which threatens Adesanya. If it's a closer match between Whittaker, and Pereira, but still a punch out, then i love knuckles, and Alex is probably going to knock him out. I still think it is one of the most exciting divisions, maybe more so for the new belt holder, but i do not think he will be easily dethroned. It is good for advertisements, and i like Khamzat, the Chechen wolf, but i don't believe he will "rag doll" po atan

Poatan is so studious of the game. He sees it all. I love the humility when talking about how Izzy rocked him at the end of the first and that he just stood there cus he knew he needed someone to walk him back to his corner. Also talking about how he said he was “ready to kill” as a way of referencing Izzy’s Kelvin Gastelum fight, where Izzy was literally saying “I’m ready to die” when coming out to the final round. Alex is a master of combat sports, and still such a student of it all, he knows Izzy so well at this point. I don’t think he will ever be beaten by him. Some people just have hills they can’t overcome in their sports. Alex had spoken about being beaten 3 times as an amateur by the same fighter, and even though that person doesn’t fight anymore he believes if they had more fights he would still lose because sometimes styles just don’t match. Valentina Shevchenko has fought Joanna 4 times. 3 times in Muay Thai/kick-boxing, and once in MMA with the UFC and she won all 4 fights. Alex I believe is an obstacle Izzy just will not be able to overcome.

After I saw Alex tell his life story, how he was an alcoholic and started fighting only at the age 21 precisely to overcome his addiction to alcohol, man this is more inspirational than a movie...

Alex's fight IQ is very high, probably the same level as Izzy's. Now I understand the way he recovers his energy,it's risky but genius. He's actually a cool guy,if you drown out all the haters of Izzy (I'm a huge fan of) and just watch and listen to Alex, he's no different from Izzy 🤷🏾‍♂️ Two sides of the same coin. When I watch Alex's success getting the UFC belt,how inspired and happy he is as well as Glover, without bias, it's the exact same experience I saw Izzy going through when he won the belt 🤞🏾 These two guys are each other's shadows, great obstacles they created for themselves to evolve into better fighters. Someone's hero is someone else's villain,and vice versa.
