Another important thing is to *keep track of your sodium intake!* When you sweat you lose salt (sodium), so the more you sweat the more salt your body looses. You'll feel very weak and sickly, almost like you're dehydrated, even if you've drank enough water if you don't also bring your sodium back up. I've learned this from years of working in hot kitchens in the scorching summer heat; believe me, I've been there. You can purchase tasteless sodium tabs that'll help with this, but it can also be as easy as snacking on a couple of handfuls of salted pretzels or potato chips. Most sports drinks also have sodium in them for this reason (to replenish it in your body after a lot of physical activity) but often they don't have enough for something as taxing as extreme heat over prolonged periods of time. So it never hurts to keep a few packages of salty soda crackers on hand even if you've loaded up on Gatorade. Hope this helps also. ^-^

Eat a salad and a COLD sandwich after suiting!! Something cold and full of nutrients along with some meats will make you feel good after eating. When you're hot and sweaty you need something light that will make you feel good and tide you over until dinner time. SAVE THE CHIPS AND UNHEALTHY SNACKS FOR YOUR HOTEL ROOM!! Soup is also not a good idea. Anything heavy and full of carbs like rice and noodles will make you TOO full and you might feel sick when you put your suit on too early. If you can't afford anything from your convention's food trucks or coffee shops, bring some greek yogurt and some strawberries and make yourself a little yogurt parfait! And drink a Gatorade or water with your meal, NOT SODA OR COFFEE OR EVEN JUICE. Any high intake of sugar is REALLY not good for long fursuit outings.

Another great tip is to take re-hydration sachets! You can find them in the chemist and pharmacy. They are often used to replenish the body with minerals, salts and fluids after bouts of sickness and diarrhoea. (In short, they are designed to help dehydrated bodies!) They are brilliant, and I always have a sachet after a day at a convention!

Awesome video! Something I always like to do is when my suit is drying, I would brush over it every hour or so, just to make sure the fibers dry straight. Another after suiting ritual I do is that I drink room temperature water! Cold water gives a rather nasty shock to the system after a long bout of fursuiting, so nice room temp water is the way to go!

MaskedMerchant not to mention (just adding some side effects of cold water) not only will cold water be a shock to your body it will also give you a nasty stomach ache and cramps! Room temp water is always the way to go when working out and moving because your body will take energy from you to warm that water up so it can use it effectively.

Great tips, tricks and overall advice! ^_^ One trick I do with my fursuits is that I transport and store the feetpaws separately from every else. This keeps things like grass, dirt, and whatever else your feetpaws may have picked up off of everything else.

Man, i grew up on this channel, seven years in the fandom and i am finally rewatxhing this video (and others like it that i also grew up on) to prepare for my first ever public fursuit outing. awesome video Pocari, about the sports drink, with me being Diabetic I can’t drink that stuff because it has a lot of sugar in it. however I was able to find a great drink which basically is electrolyte water, it’s pretty much the same as sports drinks with no sugar, it’s been life saving for me. I also have an awesome way to dry out the Bodysuit after wearing it, it’s basically a gigantic hanger with a fan built inside of it, the one I’ve got is made by Underwater Kinetic, I’m not sure of the name of it but I call it a Wetsuit Dryer. I just washed my friends Fursuit that he let me borrow for VancouFur this past weekend last night and I put the Bodysuit on my drying rack, gave it a brush, put the dryer on the Bodysuit and dried it for a couple hours then hung it up, by this morning it was completely dry both on the inside and outside.

I've learned the hard way to hydrate, hyrdrate, hydrate after fursuiting, because on a few occasions, I've been rewarded with a massive hangover-esque headache the following day, even though I may not have felt too dehydrated at the time.

Contact caffeine is fantastic- the best bar soap I've ever used and it lathers so nice, it's amazing. Comes with a collectible sticker and comes in decaf if you need it. Person who makes them is a local in my area, so i'm always happy to see our local artists and crafters get plugs!

I was in a parade and I was on a float wearing my fursuit and I was up there for about an hour or 2. When we got out of the public I took it off and started disinfecting it and cleaning it. It started raining and out float was a fishing theme so I wrapped up the head in a poncho. I put the arm sleeves and paws in my backpack and sat on a blanket and relaxed on the drive home on our parade float.

If you're vegan, a really good after-fursuiting meal is tofu! I recommend fried tofu, because it's my favorite. It keeps your energy high, and it tastes great!

Kaleigh B99 Yes but that also means the sweat will go into and soak through your suit. So if you hug someone you'll be all wet and that's disgusting. Plus it helps keep you much cooler if you by the correct brand which is heat armor. The name is confusing but it's the right one. Just do you and everyone a favor and invest in under armor or something like it. Trust me.

I have a health problem that is exactly as you said! Strainus activity while-ist not eating. I have hypoglycemia but it tends to get really bad and very easily activate when I haven't eaten recently. I think that if I was to go fursuiting (once I have ny fursona and fursuit) I will just eat on the way (like a restaurant or something) before I go fursuiting but I just want to say thank you for reminding me! I've been so busy with trying to find what typw of fursuit I want and trying to find adoptible fursonas and wherw I can find the sites to even buy a fursuit I just completely forgot about this!!! My after suiting ritual if I was responsible enough to remember it (aka not at a con or getting a new fursuit) is almost exactly what you said, but add on to that I normally will pay my handler (I feel bad if I’m public suiting and they had to sit out in the Las Vegas heat making sure I don’t get hurt) in either money or food, normally it’s Taco Bell because that’s what my body craves after a day of suiting, and I also make a fruit smoothie seeing as that normally helps with replenishing energy and cooling off.

It’s important to note that bottled Gatorade should be cut 50/50 with water. Powdered should be fine if you follow the instructions properly. Powerade is diluted enough already but you should still drink a serving of water before and after

I always pack a small canister of powdered Gatorade when I go to conventions. I just mix it up by the bottle as I need it. That's actually the only thing I drink in suit. I tend to overheat very quickly, and have to take frequent bathroom breaks when I drink water instead.

Has anyone used a 'coolshirt'? Similar to what Nascar drivers use. NASA. Off road racers. Ect. I'm sure most everyone has heard of the garment. If not, it's just basically an underarmor shirt (and you can buy pants too) with small tubing sewn throughout. Small pump pushes cool water thru those tubes, pulling heat away from the body. I can say they work extremely well. (In motorsports applications, at least) I'm just suprised I haven't anyone wearing a fursuit, using a 'coolshirt' again, I'm very new to the furry(ness) so I haven't even scratched the surface of what's out there. I just thought about the 'coolshirt' idea and wondered. Anyway, great video. As usual! :)
