Nigel, my father always used to call the bottoming taps "flat bottom" taps, and all the ones he had were truly flat on the ends, with the threads all the way down to the end surface. I suspect he may have created his "flat bottom" taps by grinding down starter taps that had broken off (but then he was very old school, raised in the Depression, when one re-used and conserved everything). Let me make sure to wish you Happy Birthday, and to let you know that your educational videos, like this one, are really excellent for the beginner who has never done this sort of thing (e.g. tapping screw holes) before. Great Job!

First of all - Happy Birthday old chap!! You’re catching me up 😳. Regarding the video - what an excellent service you have done for those wanting to build this kit - kudos! Such a pity that someone from the supplier hadn’t done the same - especially for such a premium kit and price - and added/amended the instructions enclosed in the kit.

Unusually I saw a florescent light green one drive up the road on Friday. Not practical for London at all, but still stunning (even in that sickly colour). Looking forward to see this being built.

Hi Nigel, Great video! I've used taps and dies many times over the years. I have a set of the tiny metric taps very similar to yours. I think the only reason they don't tap the holes at the factory is that it does take some skill to do it right. They probably don't want to go to the expense of training someone new. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

Happy BDay Nigel...👍...In other words I have to spend more $$$ on special tools to assist in assembling this "Ugly" Lamborghini. I will be spending my hard earned on Ferraris, Mercs, BMWs and Ford Mustangs...

Great explanation on tappings and tools! I so often learn from the master (I hope…)! I didn’t notice Jess in the background. Hope she is fine.

I know you said that you prefer a bigger handle but when it comes to screwdrivers I can't reccomend iFixIt Mako set enough.

Those sets are great, as long as you don't need a long straight shaft to go into a deep hole. I have loads of those bits, just not in a nice box.

@@NigelsModellingBench That's when the Mako set comes in handy because it comes with a flexible neck extension :D It's not better than a long screwdriver of course but it works fine enough. I work as a computer programmer and in my last job I was doing IT as well (small company but they had a fair amount of PCs that blew up during covid when they bought a laptop for every employee). I bought one of these sets for myself and brought it to work. 6 years later I have another job but still have the same kit; I've serviced at least one / two PCs a day for 4 years plus everything at home including building IKEA furniture, ifixit kits are a beast.

@@NigelsModellingBench i built the huracan coupe in green. i did everything you just mentioned taps and organizer for the screws and random small parts a real time saver before starting the build. i just happened to have a batter operated pen driver already do i just used it also. really saved my wrist. i also have the Ducati 1299 Panigale S "Anniversario" but its still in the box. andys hhq built the bike really nice kit also. and happy birthday!

For 800 pounds they could spend a bit more effort on the instructions. It's a bit embarrassing.
