Thanks for watching! I hoped to eventually do a future video on carving these with a knife.

@@fouroakscrafts7240 I spent yesterday online here in South Africa, looking for one as beautiful as yours. But to no avail. I am going to ask my uncle, a carpenter, to make me some.

Love these crosses ... are you using 1/2" or 3/4" thickness?
@fouroakscrafts72402 жыл бұрын
Sorry I'm just now responding, but I prefer to use 1/2 thick boards. I will often find 1/2 inch thick Olive boards that were meant to be cutting or bread boards and will use them. You can sometimes find them in stores like Target, Bed Bath & Beyond or TJ Max. I'll often find them a little cheaper there than if I buy in the woodworking supply stores.

How long did u soak them?
@fouroakscrafts724010 ай бұрын
I think I left them in there for a few hours, but even that's probably not necessary. Over time, the hand will form a patina on the wood. You might also experiment with my mineral oil / beeswax mix which I have another video showing how to make that.

I am sorry,but this is not a cross, what is the meaning of distorting its authentic shape?

I loved your video!! They came out absolutely beautiful!

Do we really know the original shape? Who was there to document the specs on the roman cross? Many refer to the cross as the old wooden tree. Hmm. If you like the shape you are talking about, then make yours that way.

It’s artistic and more comfortable in the hand. Based on the technology 2k years ago I doubt the real cross was perfectly straight and square
