This is Ngarrindjeri Land.
The local Dreamtime legend dates back many thousands of years.
Remnants of the story remain, lost through time and White colonisation.
Ngurunderi, one of the Dreaming's "heroes", was in search of his lost wives.
Angered by their disappearance, he threw his club into the coastal earth. With such force as to create Longkuwar (Bluff) and the surrounding islands.
Ngurunderi knew that it was time to enter the spirit world. He dived into the ocean to cleanse his spirit, before rising to become a star in the Milky Way.
