I am in total agreement that the concept is great, the construction and the useful life of those products leave A LOT TO BE DESIRED.

I'm so glad you did this review. I was thinking of getting the Pocket Hose Ultra for my grandfather for Father's Day. At 87, he gets his greatest pleasure from gardening. Unfortunately, the hose is getting a bit cumbersome for him. I was hoping this would be a solution to his problem. Darn.
@c.c.keiser868510 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the review. We bought 3 of the original pocket hoses and they worked great for a few months then they all split open at the connections. I saw they now had the "new improved" out but decided to check for reviews like this one! So glad I did.....you just saved my a pocket full of money on bad pocket hoses. I too loved the concept and thought they were great when we first used them. I sure hope they can fix them......maybe make them a little tougher and not quite so expendable. Even just expand to about twice would still be a vast improvement over conventional hoses.

Our x-hose pro just popped open mid hose. We got it around Christmas. so we got about six months out of it. Too bad it doesn't last because the concept is good. My husband was washing windows and came in to tell me it happened and he knew it didn't touch anything. He said he liked the concept so order another one. I decided to check out your reviews for current info and I am so glad I did before I wasted another dime on this. Sigh. Back to heavy regular hoses.

I think it's great (very nice of you to do!) that you use your money and time, to make informational videos like this one, for others to watch... hopefully, before buying. I wish I had discovered your helpful videos - a long time ago! Thanks, again!

it all depends on your water pressure also do you leave them inflated when not in use also do you drag your hose around full of pressure try that test
@TheHandyman510810 жыл бұрын
I agree with the pocket expandable hose review, nice concept but not perfected yet. I bought three of them and returned them all because they leaked just after a couple of days.
@charliehilliard41449 жыл бұрын
This is EXACTLY what happened to me this morning. I turned hose on, went to waster my hanging baskets, with the black hose with the brass fitting, and BOOM. It split open and I was covered in water in front of all my guests in the yard to see. Nothing is worse then trying to take off wet jeans grrrrrrrr. Took i back to Home Depot and they exchanged it for a 75 foot one. I also had those exact same leaks you showed in the video. I paid $49.99 for that black hose with the brass fittings. Home Depot said this is a common problem and I am to gently turn on the water, slowly with the tap open. Whats the point, thats not what they showed on TV, grrrrrr. When the hose split, a big blue bubble expanded, looked like a balloon and stupid me turned to see what the heck, and BOOM. The blue was the plastic hose inside that black covering.

Amen, great concept as you said, they need to work on quality. Very disappointed that mine burs-ted after just a few months. It was so easy to use and l loved not having to lug a heavy hose.
@fiddlefaddle14 жыл бұрын
I don't get it. I bought two of the x hose pros 25 footers from the Menards that I use to work for before I retired over four years ago and I still have them and they work great. No leaks or tears. The only thing that drives me crazy is the washer will occasionally fall out of the hose. Oh, and after over four years they don't contract like they did when I first bought them but, they are still lighter than a ordinary hose. Maybe I just got lucky or I know how to take care of my stuff.
@jwhiz321910 жыл бұрын
I wish it worked as designed. I like the concept, however all three of my hoses have sprung leaks and needed to be trashed. It was a waste of good money, but I would try another hose of its type if they prove to be more robust.
@treydrier316910 жыл бұрын
These are the same quality as the chemistry class hoses we used in college. We would fill them up with water and have water fights in the dorms. They inevitably ended up exploding as the rubber weakens with use. I have a pocket hose on my boat. I've used it a couple times. It feels really cheap with wimpy plastic fittings that you just know won't last.

You're right, they're not yet ready for prime time. My black rubber garden hoses are a twisty, heavy pain in the neck, but at least they're not fragile and they don't burst every week. If I have to be delicate with a garden hose, no thanks.

My Xhose lasted a year before using it yesterday for washing the car and heard a big bang ,lost my water pressure and went to garden to find out it was flooded ,the pipe had exploded and great amount of water was coming from the pipe , guess I will go back to the standard hosepipe which ive had 5+ years .
@EpicReviewGuys7 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Sometimes they do go out with a bang.
@orlock2010 жыл бұрын
I believe what is happening is the same thing that happens in house pipes and irrigation lines. When the lines and pipes lose pressure by shutting off the water source, the pressure has to be returned slowly so they don't break.

Excellent review. I too sure do wish they could perfect these hoses. Because the concept is terrific. I loved them at first. But they just do not work yet. I have gone thru three of these myself, all burst. Doesn't matter what you do, or how you do it, they WILL burst or leak one day. Count on it. And buy different hoses. When they can make them more durable and better quality, then I will be the first in line!

Thank you for the video, I have decided not to buy one. I couldn't help but to notice you have a wart on your neck and one very close to your eye that must hinder you. Did you ever try to tie some cotton very tight around the base of the wart for a week or two? Give it a go and you deprive them of blood and they die and just drop off.

Then I looked closer and found they where just normal hoses with rags tied round them ! Basically if it was 8 foot dry it would be 8 foot wet lol. Aqua Joe 50' Expandable Lightweight Kink-Free Hose on QVC looks like a far better option Aluminum fittings are crap and are the dud standard in the hose industry. They corrode from minerals in the water unless you remove them often. Even the anodized aluminum will corrode in a short time. Aluminum is not a nice fitting. Try removing it with vice grips once seized. They disintegrate. Water flow through most "inflatable" hoses is noticeably lower so unless you're trying to take longer to water your landscape or clean with your hose plan on it taking longer.

JUNK, JUNK JUNK. I bought the XHose Pro and after following their directions and using it twice, it actually went ·:·:*¨¨*:·BOOM !! .·:*¨¨*:··: The water pressure in my area is actually low and it couldn't even handle that. I bought a 50' at CVS, but unfortunately I lost my receipt so I'm S.O.L.

The final word on these hoses: They are CRAP! Last year (2015) I bought and returned 9 hoses, it's now 2016 and I've already bought and returned 5. I love the light weight and ease of wrapping it up, but I hate false advertising even more. So for that reason alone I have three hoses, one is a back up for when one of the others breaks. I then return it, get my money back and buy another.
