Nice kit! My hunting/fishing kit has 2 metal rat traps, 2 metal mouse traps, 2 auto fishing reels (with line), a folding razor knife with extra blades (that can also be used a arrow heads), 25 foot of tarred #36 bank line, 25 foot of 550 cord, assorted hooks (both single and treble), and 2-3 packets of MRE peanut butter for bait. The treble hooks can also be used with 550 cord to make a bolos for catching/snaring small game like rabbits/squirrels! The 550 can also be woven into a shepherd's sling! Thanks for the video!

might sound a bit weird...but what about adding the end of a plain fork in the kit? get one that's flat and a bit wider that most and cut off most of the handle/shaft.. it'll be flat...and you can lash it on to a stick to make a frog gig...without it being so big and bulky...

great idea

I'm a Big fan of treble hooks,they hold bait like no other,They're a pain in the ass to extract sometimes,but they hold onto the catch better.They work well outside of the water as well,ie..Bird traps,squirrels,rodents,etc. They don't store flat but are worth the small hassle.Excellent kit Andrew,Thanks for taking the time to show us,Cheers!
@entltyq3 ай бұрын
They store flat in a mini tin (the small trebles) and would fit inside his tin which is shown in the video.

I love the sewing bobbin filled with fishing line. By the way an Alternate off-the-shelf option To replace The sewing bobbin is to use dental floss after you remove the outer dispenser you’ll find yourself with a small spool of prefilled cordage Personally, I prefer the waxed unflavored for fishing purposes With The additional bonus of usage with fire starting. I do not have the background, so I would appreciate your input whether not dental floss could also be used with trapping???

Sir, looking at being marooned in a bush plane mishap in the vast, remote subarctic. After a firearm and ammo for defense or hunting, or limited to a dedicated spear point, God forbid, my first choice for a kit is a takedown or folding knife with a strong lock (a hatchet or drawknife could actually be the best tool for harvesting inner spruce bark for boiling). You can use birch bark to form bowls for boiling. You may look for fish, rose hips for vitamin C, blueberries, cranberries, bird eggs, birds, fowl, game, etc. 50 feet or more of paracord and a fire kit will be extremely convenient, if not even life-saving. Hopefully, being prepared will prevent possible cannibalism.
@DuaneRogers-sh2sl3 ай бұрын
For your snares you might think about putting a loop in the end of your cable making it easier and quicker to setup also put micro commercial locks making them more effective for just a little more expense you can find them at trapping stores online also look at traditional bow hunting points that you put the arrow into it making it more efficient

Old guitar strings for snares come with a built in slip ring and are of a pretty high tensile strength for the diameter of the wire. Have you ever considered trying to make a net from the cordage that can be fabricated from plastic bottles found in the field? I've seen minnow traps and crawfish traps made from trash 2 liter bottles and I've seen videos on how the create cordage in the field from trash 2 liter bottles, but has anyone ever used that cordage to make a net? If it can be done for gear transport or for fishing or trapping (small birds comes to mind) then a blade that's well equipped for making the cordage would be a good addition to this kit, is what I'm thinking.

As far as active hunting goes? Forget the bow and arrow. A .22 rimfire rifle or high power air gun (ammo is very cheap) will work every time. Fishing is easier insofar you can fit everything you need in a baggie. Just need to find some water.

With careful selection from the items shown, you will be able to assemble kit usable anywhere in the world. We got to like things that start simple and allow you to build out what you really need. QUESTION, could someone please post the dimensions and thickness if the PSK spearpoint Andrew demonstrated? That could be a great DIY project with the young'uns after a visit to the local steel supplier or one of the many junk shops along the General Douglas MacArthur national highway here on Luzon Island. Thank you in advance for any replies.
