How to print this:
After you click the link, click the image again to make it real big on the screen. Now you should right click it, and select 'save as,' making sure that it is saving as a .png extension. If it has .jpeg after the title, it won't look as nice when you print it. Once you save the file to your computer, simply open it up and select 'print with' Windows Photo Viewer.
** N64 ** Nintendo 64 ***
Remember, the thing being made here is the video. Let's think like a video-maker for a moment.
The featured trinket takes very little time to make when it is compared to the video itself. There are actually three logos being used for the making of this film, and the finished piece isn't even shown here, because as I type this, it still isn't done yet. The final version is the one shown during the woodworking scenes, and right up through the blue paint scene. After that, I am showing the second prototype, which was finished (painted) very quickly, so that I could shoot the end of the video. The final reveal shows a blotchy finished logo, which I regret is the price of reducing the production time of this video.
So what did I cut with the chainsaw, and why? It was the original (first) prototype, which was made using proportions that more closely approximated the official logo. This version was taller than it was wide, and so it was not a convincing reproduction when viewed IRL. I tried to use distraction to keep you from noticing this; there is little chance that you could be aware of such minutia while a loud dramatic event unfolds in only a few seconds. But nevertheless, it was a lousy copy. You see, the official logo is a multiple-point perspective drawing, so it is inconsistent and unreliable for use with deriving precise measurements. It just didn't look right after I reproduced it as accurately as possible, so I chopped off some of the height from each side, but then the yellow parts were no longer squares. As a perfectionist, I found this condition to be insufficient, and further, I could not tolerate this inferior product's existence in my garage. So I used the opportunity to make a scene that would recreate a certain reference that, if you are asking "why," you didn't get.
Sorry if you didn't get it because it was obscure. But you know what? That's what makes you feel clever whenever the shoe is on the other foot, and you get it, while all of those other dumbasses are asking, "why the hell did he..."

Drunken Woodworker Hehehe. I have the real deal. If you look closely in the thumbnail, it's in the console. I'm playing it now, which prompted this video. As for getting the rom, it should come bundled with most versions of coinops (if you have time for that), but most emulators won't run it well, anyhow. I know, I'm weird- but I prefer the authentic experience ;)

After viewing the video an idea came into my mind which I want to share. In a cube the center cubical hole can be made simply by using a chisel or a square cutting bit. Then, the letter N can also be inscribed using a chisel or jig saw. I surprised why you have taken that much pain in doing so. Upload the same after successful completion.

Brilliant annotation @ 3.28. Thank you for those words about math teachers having no edit facility when going live. I was a math lecturer and used to ask my students to please tell me if they spotted a mistake on the board because it's as easy to misplace a number or point in math as misspell a word or neglect a comma in English (I hoped it might also keep their attention hoping to spot a mistake) Thankfully, I only tripped up once in 30 years but I was really glad that someone spotted it because people will write down and learn mistakes. Great video, so unlike some really bizarre, but highly entertaining ones, I picked up on recently. Best Wishes, Brendan.

"...I could not tolerate this inferior product's existence..." Man, how many times have I felt this exact same way. Good build though. I work for a company whose name is abbreviated to three letters. I have thought about making something like this so that from the front you see the three letters, but from the side, you see just the first letter. The Discovery Channel had a "D" logo at one time that was like that (the same as the N64 "N"). I think it would be cool decoration for our booths at conferences and such.

I think the reason why the protractor test failed is because the view (camera angle) used to get the rendered image of the logo is not perfectly isometric like in the paper. Also, it can be made in 8 small parts without crunching any numbers. :)

Another thought though why not render this in 3D CAD software so your not too limited on paper? Or do you just love writing everything out instead of letting a computer handle most of the calculations for you? Just a curious question.

I once designed the house of Flash on a house plan. I gave the house many 45 degree angles and gave it a lighting bolt shape with Flash's logo in the middle. Then I wanted to make the house tilted like if Flash just ran past it making the house slant towards the direction he was running. When I put it on paper it looked good and doable. Then when I tried to build the model, well lets say I just had to make the house straight.

Say, Pocket. I'm only 15, but I'd really like to understand some more of the amazing mathematical and scientific/geometrical things you do, because they really interest me. One thing that especially caught my eye was the whole argument thing in one of the comment sections in which you stated something similar to how aliens with 8 fingers would prefer a numerical system of 8's? I don't quite understand what you meant by the whole thing, and I'll read it over again and try to understand, but I'd be grateful if you could explain that to me.
@pocket83
@pocket83 9 жыл бұрын
Mega T22 I think that was on the "bending the rule" video. As I'm sure you know, there are two dominant measurement systems in the western world: Imperial and Metric (SI). Most of the world now uses the second one, so there is no shortage of people here on KZbin who will argue that it is the better system. My opinion is that there is no perfect system, and my argument was that it is better to be familiar with as many systems of expression as possible. Many people will argue in favor of their present system just because it is the one that they use, and so they are accustomed to it. It seems "normal" to use what you are used to, and this is an example of a bias. Much of the reason that Metric _seems_ simpler is because it is based on tens, and we have ten fingers, so we are used to the number ten- we have a bias for it. A good scientist will remember to be looking for their own biases, and also not be afraid to question their own assumptions about the world. You may have been born on a planet where it is "normal" to have evolved into a creature with ten fingers, so you may have _assumed_ that there was something easier about counting to ten. But what if you had been born on a planet where everyone had a bias for eight fingers? Besides, which number is easier to cut in half again and again, 10 or 8? There are going to be pros and cons to any system of expression, so the goal is to evaluate them fairly, so that you can see (and think) clearly about the idea that is being expressed. I hope this helped clarify the argument a little, and thanks for asking!
@TyRexDaQT

It gets even more complicated. Read the description- the damned thing is actually a perspective drawing. It has very distant (and multiple) vanishing points. But my work with it is done; as I have already stated, anything can be put on paper, so I see no reason to pursue it further, with respect to its being made into a physical object.

It all depends. I want to move to a bigger house with a proper shop, where I will have room for a floor model. In my present house, there is only an attached garage, so the wheel-away (Ridgid) contractor saw works nicely. If this is your first table-saw, I would recommend it I guess. It won't let you down- but buy it from Craigslist, because the new ones are filled with stupid design. I purchased this because of the ridiculous abuses I put another one (just like it) through at a job I once had. It's a beast; I'll give it that. As for accuracy/precision, excuse the old idiom, but _it's not the arrow, it's the Indian._ Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask lots more questions before you decide... it is, after all, the heart of the shop.
