I started pursuing my elementary education degree a few years ago and got so disheartened about how strict and regulated the curriculums/policies have become, it turned me off to continuing my degree entirely and I ended up dropping out of school. However, I started watching your videos a few days ago and seeing how you handle your views (positive and negative) of the things that I was frustrated with has actually made me think that maybe I could go back and finish after all. It was such a big dream of mine for so long and I had so many goals and ideas that were put on a shelf, it left me feeling very lost/directionless to give them up. Your videos are rekindling that passion in my heart for teaching and I can't thank you enough. I wonder if it's too late to enroll in winter quarter... 💕

We had 1 trick-or-treater this year 😂 The funnier thing was that this was our first in 15 years of marriage. For the first 13 years we lived in a rural area on a private road. Now we live in a home which is part of a community of 76 homes. Only 2 of those homes has a child. I was thrilled with our one trick-or-treater and that boy got spoiled. 💙

My Halloween was mixed. I had a wonderful class the morning. They were supper sweet and so well behaved, but during the afternoon I had a class that was extremely difficult. There was at least 10 kids that were a challenge. I just felt emotionally and mentally drained by the time the bell rang. They were all over the place, arguing with me, in each other’s business, and refusing to be quiet. And it wasn’t because I was there as a sub. They have always been like that since they were younger. A part of me wanted to cry. But I had to remind myself that it wasn’t anything I did. I did the best I could. Thankfully Wednesday was a much better day. I was in a different class and the kid were awesome. Talkative, but awesome.

I completely understand about trying to make it through Halloween week in an elementary school! I think Halloween should always be celebrated the last FRIDAY of October. It makes for a crazy week when it's any other day. Glad you enjoyed the Escape Room. My daughter worked in one in East Tennessee for a couple of years. They have 5 or 6 rooms and are always coming up with plans for improvements and new ideas! Hope you are having a good week this week. I'll be looking forward to more videos soon! Take care :-)

I think you are seeing that despite no longer being in a title one school, a school like yours (and mine) has a completely different set of challenges with all the parent involvement. Although it is awesome, it makes it difficult.... lots of emails and although help is great, you will learn what they are good at helping with... and each year it is different. Last year I had the best copy mom! This year she is sweet and helps me if I ask but I don't have my own... but one of my moms helps to get volunteers and supplies and pictures taken.... it is amazing but a whole new set of challenges. Extra conferences, emails, expectations, etc.... awesome but different.

Some great advice below...Have u ever thought utilizing parents or high schoolers (for service hrs) come after school with ur students for tutoring session. Not saying u should stay late but if u are already staying late for grading or planning ....and u shouldn't reteach it...the tutors can help with that. Make it fun or call it something catchy so kids don't any away from coming to after school help. Thanks for all you do and no u don't have to vlog at home. Tfs 🤗😙

Have you ever thought about self grading? Where for simple worksheets (not tests) you put out an answer key and have them check their own or each other’s answers. I think that helps a lot with students building integrity skills as well as making it easier for you. Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!☺️❤️
@taylermramirez7 жыл бұрын
