Very sad to see that day when OnePlus can't get any love from reviewers, but that's because they are in a transition state, trying to match up with the Flagships. I'm a OnePlus fan, but could not warrant the price of the 9 or 9 pro; instead opting to buy the OnePlus 8 in 2021, since the price compared to the Samsung S20 was really affordable comparing both companies previous offerings.

I am still rocking my OnePlus 6 since July 2018, (started to show its age) and none of the newer OnePlus devices ever convinced me to upgrade (except the 7 Pro). Thinking of a Pixels 4a, why ? All the phones are giant slabs and I think the 700 snapdragon chips are close to the 835 chip that I have and best of all .. A headphone jack !

Samsung has so many extras even above and beyond the camera, that unless you really love Oxygen OS, and don’t value OneUI’s ease of use, this is a no-brainer now that the pricing is so close. I’d pick the Samsung.

i'm currently using A52s for quite sometime now. Last year i really wanted to buy Oneplus 9 Pro but i don't like the curved screen because it's hard to find a good tempered glass or screen protector for it. Now i ordered S21+ phantom black of course @51% off w/ free Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. I'm glad i didn't paid full price last year.

right now i only care about why the haptics on the oneplus 9 pro are so extremely bad... i recently ordered one and right away i noticed that the phone felt very hollow and cheap because of the haptics while on both my oneplus 7 pro and oneplus nord it feels very good and solid. i sent it back to receive another unity but also this one had the same issue... i'm so sad about this because i REALLY WANT a 9 pro ! can you please tell me if this is normal or is it probably a whole batch with just an issue ?

There is still approx a 150$ difference in price for the top spec versions in India. I understand that OnePlus may have deviated from being a value for money flagship killer to a contender with the bigger boys but it still offers great bang for the buck considering the price difference in my country .

I have gone back to Samsung this year as they have really lifted their game with the A52 5G and S21 Ultra. My previous phones for the past 5 years have all been OnePlus, sadly they are no longer the great company they once were, software is nowhere near as good as it once was, updates are slow now relative to the past especially security updates, buggy software etc.

But the 9 pro has a qhd+ display Vs 1080p, that's quite a difference so shouldn't this be just the normal 9 for a better spec comparison? The 9 is a lot cheaper too

In India, the largest OnePlus market, the price difference is still quite stark. The maxed out 9Pro is Rs 70,000 (around $950, as per the dollar rate on June 4, 2021), while the similar-spec S21 Ultra (12GB/256GB) is priced at Rs 106,000, or $1451.

I definitely think the s21 plus is better than the oneplus 9 pro. One small problem that I have is with the 1080p display. I wished it was at 1440p which would make the plus model an even more attractive phone
@arkantochiron3 жыл бұрын
For the Indian market, it still makes sense as the prices of OnePlus devices here are still much lower than Galaxies and iPhones. But am not sure what prompted OnePlus to enter the US market at the same price points as the more established and well-liked brands. They should have focused on capturing some market share with value flagships for a few years at least.
@andyH_England3 жыл бұрын
I think that with the Huawei ban if they try and be aggressive with pricing the Samsung lobbyists will mark them down as another China problem and risk getting banned. So, OP has decided to enter but not draw attention. Xiaomi and OPPO are less inclined to take a chance, already Xiaomi has faced being banned and it is clear the US smartphone market is very restricted and thus anti-competitive.

I'd rather support OnePlus over Samsung. I love the OnePlus 9 Pro so far, I've had it since day 1. Only complaint I have is my battery life isn't as good as I had it in the OnePlus 8 Pro, but the speed and stability is top notch.

If only I can install GMS apps, without doing dangerous work rounds, I would still get a Huawei. Yeah, the Kirin series may not be top-tier performance, but it has great battery management, great image AI, and more than good enough performance. Though I'm satisfied with my Mi11, I'm still hoping that I can go back to Huawei.
@andyH_England3 жыл бұрын
I agree, I was all-in on Huawei before the US banned it. The battery management is at another level and streets ahead of Samsung. Huawei moving all phones over to HarmonyOS starting in June so interesting to see how that works on my Mate 20X 5G. I am not entrenched in Google Services, my work phone is an iPhone so not having Google will not be a hardship if HarmonyOS is as good as they say?

@@andyH_England I watch a lot of YT videos during my free time, and YT app is convinient. It's not actually work for me. I'm stuck with Google for entertainment.
