I usually use the stock airbox and I pop the snorkel out.. on my purple prebug I use a pod filter. But I have a dellorto 17.5 carb on it.. I noticed they are a lot quieter that the pollini cp carbs

I'd probably replace the snorkel with a piece of aluminium tube, with the end flared out. Every mm in diameter is quite a lot difference in % increase in area. You could fine tune the resonance frequency with the length the tube goes into the filter box.

Wow , what a way to teach people the wrong info...... your scoot only revved out to 3k with the stock airbox cause the carb was jetted way to rich for the airflow of the airbox. All you had to do was rejet your carb to the airbox and done...no hacking to your airbox. When I go on long group rides, I run a factory airbox (with a velocity stack on the inlet.) On my FULLY built race minarelli that make 20hp(09 yamaha zuma 50cc base). And it still revs out to 14k cause I retune the carb to the airbox.

I think you may of missed the point. It was all about how you can make a stock airbag perform like a pod filter without the noise. Take all the gains of a pod filter without the noise into a stock airbox.. Jetting down lost a lot of power.. Needed a 85 main to run the stock airbag without the stuffers..

pod filter on my roughhouse needed modified because of stock fuel pump all that air being drwn in leaves little suckysucky stock carb well i think i'm at around 32-34 idle and around 90-95ish lol I opened her up meaning i took stock jet and drilled her bigger, thus making stock airbox impossible to tune, but your right on everything , thinking uping the idle a little, wish me luck haha measure 2x cut 1x well f that guesstimate right ?,kidding , peace out ya'lll have a great awesome day or night love everyone brrraaap!

Really nice and good video. Just wanted to ask you something about the power filter. Do you know why people use a power filter, the Scooter people do it to be able to cool their engine more. and this happens precisely because when you drive with a power filter, you must always install a large main nozzle, otherwise the engine will not run very well, and when you have installed a large main nozzle in your engine, it will get more petrol and this will cool the engine better, and that's just a plus, the performance mostly for a small step up... I know many people use a power filter because they want more performance in the engine, and that's a wrong basis, as a rule, they only use more power precisely because a power filter requires a large main nozzle. but the real way why you use a power filter is to cool your engine better. This is also why many people do not use a power filter when they only drive with a 70cc sport setup, where you can easily keep the engine cool enough with a standard carburettor & filter and a large nozzle. I drive a little Scooter myself on the track and love to build up the engine so that they have more hp. Must remember to say.. what I have told regarding the use of the power filter is something I myself have been told once when I was younger.. and you are welcome to correct me if I am wrong on that..... even though I have tuned the Scooter "Yamaha Aerox" for about 20 years now, I could still be wrong or have been told something completely wrong.

I’m assuming your reference to a power filter you mean the aftermarket pod filters such as the one I used in this vid. The reason people use them is they let more air into the motor. More air needs more fuel. More fuel means more power. Simple.
@bp-tuningaeroxlc-dd6474
@bp-tuningaeroxlc-dd6474 9 ай бұрын
@@scooterbomb2152 Yes, what you write is correct. more fuel gives more Hp. but us who drive on tracks against others We don't fit a power filter to get more HP, we fit the power filter because more fuel gives much better cooling in the engine.....

My air box is gone and I put a pod on it but if it gets any moisture it don't run. I ride sometime with no filter What will happen?
@scooterbomb2152
@scooterbomb2152 4 ай бұрын
Riding with no filter can be bad news. Nothing stopping the motor from sucking in debris, some debris will score the bore and if big enough may cause catastrophic damage the motor. There is no advantage of running no filter as the filters are not restrictive enough to make any loss in power. Sucking in moisture is no good either. Riding in the rain with a pod filter could be really bad too.

Have you tried one of the larger foam pod filters ? Also where did you buy the stage 6 air filter ? I’ll be needed a new one after watching your vid I think I’ll do the air box thing as well . Did your air box fit straight to the polini carb with no adapter required ?

@@scooterbomb2152 yeah I suspect you’re Probbaly right about the other pods . Some of them look like they have some bulky foam but I’m thinking noise will still get out , I think I’ll go the route of the air box , I’m thinking the least amount of attention drawn to it from police the better . Also the more linear power will be better for wheelies . That’s what I’m building it for . .. do you have an idea what the little valve/ jet looking thing is in inside of air box is for ? I can’t remember what it was connected to I’m thinking it was the carb

Hello Scooter Bomb. I'm thinking about replacing my stock Air Filter on my Sym Jet14 50cc 2021 Euro5 Injection to a powerlifter, or replace the intake tube to a wider one. However, as it's a injection, everything is regulated by the ECU. So i wonder, will the air intake also be regulated? If so, there is no need to improve air intake. And, if it does not limit air intake and increases intake, will the ECU also increase the fuel to perfectize the fuel-mixture? And, (another one): Will it improve torque/power to the scooter? I have upgraded the weights on my scooter and is doing 55km/u as i wanted, no need to go faster. However, as i'm a little taller and heavier then the usual drivers, will increasing air intake also increase my power? When i'm for example at traffic lights, it really lacks power to go from 0km/u to 30km/u'ish. Meaning that i'm slowing down the ultimate flow of traffic.

The only experience I have with injection on a scooter is a honda metropolitan. I changed the CDI as well as the variation and rollers and it wasn't to bad. Could get to around 70kph on flat roads. That was a 4t scooter.. I would suggest you look at a replacement CDI
