POD X3 Live Review! You're going to fall in love with this multi effects pedalboard and it's usually about $150 - a bargain when you consider all the effects pedals that are built-in, including a cab simulator!!! If you're looking for something fun that you'll love to own, get the POD X3 Live to start, then upgrade to the POD HD500 and eventually to the Headrush Pedalboard. I feel like the future won't have any real amps, imagine that guys from Cradle of Filth ONLY use the Mooer micro line of pedals and ONLY TWO of them! The Mooer 50/50 which is a Peavey 5150 clone and the Mooer Radar Cab Simulator. That's it!

I absolutely LOVE my X3 Live and so glad you love yours too! It's such a powerful tool and agree that buying pedals is a scam of all scams!! Especially when you can get a used/ mint X3 Live for under $200 and be fully set!!!! :)

If you like running straight to the PA these things are amazing. And wow running a mic through it makes great vocal tones.

Nice score. I scored one off of Ebay for about a smidge more than 150, I use it for guitar at home and bass for live shows. It has a great 18” bass cab sound in there that chugs up the high end with a pick tone. In a pinch, I connected a single mic cable to the direct out xlr connector on the X3 live, put a 1/4” instrument level adapter on the other end of the cable, then plugged straight into the instrument input on the front end of the amp. Works!

Great piece of kit on its own, and an excellent compliment to many high gain amps, given that one can add an array of effects, EQ and boost simulations. A steal by virtue of the used market.

If you have a laptop or desktop with a DAW on it, your X3 live makes a great interface for direct recording. You can also use it to record keyboards and vocals with into your DAW. This is the best thing I have ever owned! Very versatile and you can download tons of patches on the line 6 website for it under the podfarm section of their site. I created many cool patches and put them on the site (which you can do also). Built like a tank. There are tons of patches already on it and I found a whole new section of patches I didn't even know was on it a month or two ago. I will eventually make video on how to use your pod x3 live to record directly to your computer (or DAW)... If you want to record keyboards though just go in through the effects return jacks on your pod x3 live.. Plug a 1/4" jack from your keyboards out jacks and go directly into the pods effects return jacks. Have the pod set on a clean channel, so as not to add distortion or any other color into it.. You can use various effect patch channels with your keyboards, I just wouldn't start out on a distortion channel, best to start on a clean patch and then try effects at your discretion. I like to play my pod x3 with it connected to my laptop as you can easily use gearbox to change settings lightning fast. It's so easy to drop effects into the mix and change parameters with blazing speed and watch your pod's display change as you change things on the laptop's screen.. Pretty cool for sure!

@@louistorres The patches I made are created by "gtarsonline6" , but Louis, there are thousands of pages of patches.. Many are repeats, but there are enough on there to keep you busy forever probably.. What I do is make a folder on my laptop and put the ones that sound interesting in that folder, then transfer them to the x3 live if they are real good ones.. Use the gearbox software (free download) on your computer, to shuffle things around with. You can drag and drop patches right in to the slots you want them in on your pod with your mouse etc... Gearbox makes that part easy.. Just make sure and hit "save" after your transfer stuff, or your pod will forget that you put them in there.. The save button has to be pushed to keep the new sounds. I can actually spend a whole evening going through all of the new patches! There are some great ones on that site for sure.. Then keep coming back every other month or so, and see if there are new ones you like. Download as many as you like onto your computer's folder you make, then later hook up your pod to the computer any old time you want via the usb, and go through the folder.. All you have to do is double click on the patch in the folder and it will load automatically to hear on the pod x3 live.. just go down the list and click, then play, then go on to the next one, OR, download the one's you like onto the pod by dragging it to a spot on the list in gearbox. Then hit the save button and it will be there until you replace it with something else someday.. Way cool! Have fun. If you need any further advice, just hit me up on here.

Look for a thing called "the 4 cable method" with the POD. You'll be able to use effects before and after your amp's pre amp. It's pretty dope actually to put your delays after your amp's distorsion but make your amp play that cleaner signal anyway.

Bro, want to laugh! The whole cable thing drove me nuts, so I bought the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170 and run my POD X3 Live and Headrush Pedalboard through it and out to my Mesa 412 cabinet! I didn't know you could add pedals too, so I'll give it a shot and mess around with it again! Hahaha! Thanks for the heads up, brother! I really appreciate that. I'll try that tomorrow with my Boss DD3 Delay pedal. : )

@@louistorres I was talking about the POD. Don't know if you can do it with the headrush. Probably you can but I just bought an X3 like 9 years ago and never looked much else. I've learned all of its features and most of the time, gearheads everywhere get surprised with my tone being just achieved with that pedaalboard and sent as a stereo signal directly into mixers. Gets the job done and I'm not a gear junkie that much xD

The worst for me was the Headrush I paid $1400 what a waste of money. Great sounds.

Going from fx send on the amp to the Lout on on the pedalboard doesn't make sense... both are "out" so the signal is meeting halfway down the cable and cancelling out or doing nothing, I think you mean run the Lout to the FX return on the amp... try that, see if it sounds louder/maybe has more audible effects etc..., honestly it seems unnecessary tho because you're already going into the input on the front of the amp, so why would you also plug a signal into the effects loop?

Hey Peter! That was my stepping stone to the world of multi effects pedals. More often than not, I was using it with headphones anyway. Hey, if you scroll through, you'll notice that I've since gotten the Headrush Pedalboard with HR/FRFR112 speaker. It's so much easier to use with XLR out, and I also have the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170 poweramp that runs from my Headrush into my Mesa 412 cabinet too, so there's no need for fifty cables anymore. Unfortunately, the X3 Live doesn't have a built-in looper. Why can’t you plug your guitar directly into the processor instead of an FX send from the amp?
@louistorres
@louistorres 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know what you mean, if you're using this X3 Live you have no choice but plug into the processor. Now, if you have FR speakers, you can run out to a Mission 412 cabinet and call it a day. But if all you have is a head and normal cabinet, then again you have no choice but to run it through the effects loop using the three or four cable method.

Ive bought almost all the line 6 pedals now and for some reason the line 6 xt live has out shined all of them...
@louistorres
@louistorres 4 жыл бұрын
Funny enough, I've heard the xt live was revolutionary then the X3 Live nearly doubled all effects and I know a few guys who sold their HDs to return back to the X3 Live bc it was the best between the XT Live and the HD line. I love it X3 Live, it was my intro to the digital pedalboard platform which was followed up with my Headrush pedalboard, which is lightyears ahead of that X/ HD lineup from 2010-2014.

You know, I've never used the HD before but when I first got it, I was reading how some guys didn't like the HD. Google it and you'll read what people who switched from the X3 to the HD have written. Some had the X3, upgraded to the HD and went BACK to the X3 and they have great reasons for doing so.

No, you just can't 4cable setup. You'd be limited to direct plug in to the front of the amp which is fine for most home setups.

Hi do you know how to run the x3 live so i have the sound of my real amp but the fx from the x3 live.
@louistorres
@louistorres 3 жыл бұрын
The only issue is that the X3 Live is a much older technology from roughly 15 years ago, so it sounds "digital." As an example, my Headrush Pedalboard and Kemper Stage both sound like real amps compared to my Line6 X3 Live. Unfortunately, you would have to get something newer than the X3 if you want something that sounds better or closer to real tones. Hope that helps.

@@macuswong4005 depends if you want your X3 Live to be affected by a preamp or not. You don't have a 120 watt amp with an effects loop, you should try one and see which you prefer but you currently have a 10 watt amp with a not-so-great 10" speaker. Sooner than later, you should consider upgrading.
