I was a Youth Of the Nation in 2001, now I am 38 years old, I am a father and husband. I lived my adolescence practicing Skateboarding in the streets of my city (Heredia - Costa Rica). P.O.D was always in my mornings, afternoons and nights, he went with me to university and he is constantly on my playlists while I work on my computer. September 11th, 2001. I remember that was the official release date of Satellite Album. I was a Deputy Sheriff at the time. I remember thinking on Sept 10th how I needed to pick up that CD the next day. I had just worked night shift and was sleeping. I got a call from my Captain, telling me to gear up and get to the office. He said America was under attack. I turned the news in time to see the first tower fall. What a day that was. The world changed forever.

Yep, I remember talking with Sonny right after they finished playing a gig at The Roxy in Hollywood, and asking him why they were not signed to a big record label. P.O.D. was probably one of the first metal bands I started listening to when I was young, and Jinjer is probably my favorite band these days. I got to see POD open for Jinjer twice, which was awesome and also stood out to really emphasize how big Jinjer was getting to have a band that sold a few platinum to multi platinum albums opening for them. P.O.D. is still killing it after all these years too.

But I think she probably grew up on the nu metal and P.O.D. stuff inclusively... to be fair Jinjer is a great band they still have to write that undeniable hit like P.O.D. did with: Alive, Youth of the nation, Boom, Satellite, Sleeping awake, Goodbye For Now, Will, Going in Blind to name a few... I mean you don't write so many good songs just by chance. Granted Jinjer are technically better musicians but purely the skill is not always the most important thing... that might actually be the problem, they focus too much on technique and completely forget to write a simply good song that may somewhat transcend the prog genre... like TOOL for example managed to do!
