Girl, you are in for the beginning of a great love affair with Icelandic yarn. It’s my favorite - so warm and the colors are amazing. I also find it pills less than other yarns, making it super hard wearing. Such a nice pattern for your cardigan, too. Have fun. ❤🧶

As far as I understand the extra length of the sleeve is to account for the shortening of the length that will happen when the cable "relaxes" in width with wash and wear... :)
@gaiabuccianti74632 жыл бұрын
yeah, I heard that too from people that have been wearing the moby a lot
@vivipan96872 жыл бұрын
Yes! Handmade by florence discussed exactly that in her recent video!

Oh good to know! For some reason +4 inches seemed like a LOT of extra length even to account for shortening over time, but I guess I'll have to see how it wears!

Alternating single crochets and chains with the single crochets worked into the chain spaces is called the linen stitch or moss stitch. Since it's a tighter stitch than single crochet, when I use a foundation single crochet I go down a full mm hook size for the foundation single crochet. Hope that helps!

I didn't know you knit left-handed! I'm always excited to find other people who knit lefty, too. When I learned to knit as a kid like, 2 decades ago, I thought I was the only one and was really insecure about it... insta/youtube have made me feel much less alone over the last few years!

I've learned of so many left handed knitters since making videos! It also makes me feel less alone - and maybe thinking there is space for more left handed tutorials and knitting videos?

picking up stitches is SO HARD! My best hack for this is dividing the total stitch count by 10 (more or less, whatever) and placing 10 stitch markers evenly around the armhole. Then you know exactly how many stitches you need to pick up between each marker!
@neknits2 жыл бұрын
Ah that is a very clever idea! Will have to try!

I’ve tried to knit multiple projects at the same time but I just can’t do it. When I’m working on project 3 I think, if this was project 1 I’d almost be finished with it. Plus, I totally forget where I am if I’m bouncing from project to project. I can only work on one thing at a time if I want to finish it. If I put it down and start something new there a high chance it won’t get finished. It’ll sit in a pile likely to become frogged at a later date. I think I may be like this because I’m older, older.

I am 5'1"! It makes knitting the bodies on sweaters much less miserable. I usually use the smallest size length for the body instead of following the one for the actual size I'm knitting, but I hadn't thought to shorten the sleeves - that's a good tip!

love the idea of a knit and chat q&a!! how old are you (only answer if you want) and what do you do for your main job? also, what is your favorite thing you’ve knitted so far, and do you have any advice for people wanting to start more advanced knitting (like colorwork, cables, etc) when i have only done stockinette sweaters? love your videos!!! ☺️💓

Hi, fellow Bostonian here and really enjoy your channel, thank you! I just this weekend learned to do the crochet provisional tubular cast on and for me it is a game changer. SO much easier than the other way you mentioned, very easy to "read" the stitches and you will get it on the first try! Take a look at the Saturday Shrug by Jackie Rose (CadyJax) and within that pattern are links to this method of tubular.

Hi! Tubular cast on, what I do is look at how many stitches I need, for example say it’s 100sts I will put 9 removable light bulb stitch markers out. That will give me 100 stitches (10 either side of the 9 markers) and then I count - out loud - and every time I get to 10 I put a stitch marker on without losing where I’m at, counting until all my stitch markers are finished and then I double check that there’s actually 10 lots of 10 on my needles and then I go. My husband knows not to speak to me when I’m doing something like this 🤭🤣
@neknits2 жыл бұрын
smartttt! I should start doing that to count long cast ons!

What does it mean to “knit left-handed” I am left handed and the only thing that i find different is the cast-on. I hold the needle in my left hand and yarn in my right to cast on. But in knitting…stitches are worked from the left needle to right regardless of the handedness of the individual…right? And regardless of handedness a chart is read from the bottom right unless otherwise stated? Only asking because I am a lefty too and this is the 2nd or 3rd time I’ve heard you talk about being mirrored and I don’t understand how you are doing this
@neknits2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! As a left handed knitter I actually work the stitches from the right needle onto the left. Which means in charts I start from the bottom left
@felicianunez76622 жыл бұрын
@@neknits oh man that is interesting. I remember in my knitting classes the instructor was adamant that there was no such thing as left handed knitting and insistent for me to work from Left needle to right, she probably didn’t want to reach me another way 😂
