Fr. Gerald Murray joins Robert Royal in today’s podcast to discuss some of the radical claims synod participants have recently made, their questioning even of the apostolic tradition, and what authority the novel form of synod now underway has - or does not have.

Use of the term "our side" shows that some Americans are stuck in their Trumpite culture wars. Those who worship Trump and oppose the evolution of the church should go off and found their own little Temple. Who knows, their brand of "Catholicism" could be like the Odinists were for the Nazis.

When I was baptized into the catholic church there were doctrines that could never change. And now we have clergy who want to change unchangeable doctrines. I really resent people trying to change the church I was baptized into. If I wanted women priest and same sex marriage I'd go find me another church!

Why do I feel that this synod is about ‘people centered’…not CHRIST centered. I have noticed the words that these bishops and cardinals are using (the progressive ones). What needs to be changed is how Cardinals, Bishops, priests and lay Catholics would be able to teach effectively and reach out to people who need to know the good news of Jesus Christ. We need to stand fast as Catholics and be faithful to what our Lord taught us through the Apostles. Catholic Church teachings and doctrines need not be compromised just to bring or attract people to Jesus Christ. Yes truth hurts but will set us free and make us WHOLE and AUTHENTIC followers of Jesus Christ.

All of this is affecting parish life even in traditional parishes, turning the focus from the holy sacrifice to passive aggressive behavior even coming from the altar. At what point are we sinning attending Mass or allowing this heretical stuff to continue?

All attendees are allotted 3 minutes to offer their perspectives on a topic, only once during the entire synod, on only 1 topic. 🤔

Which kinda tells you how their 3 minute long input will be acknowledged or considered in the final assimilated report on what this meeting of invited, sworn to secrecy humans, some not even Catholic, have to say about bringing Jesus, the Bible and years of Catholic Tradition up to date in our “ modern super intelligent” world. IMO, most practicing Catholics are sick of the current confusing messages coming from Rome. We will not abandon this Church which Christ himself established, we will trust Him to guard and protect it whatever comes and we are positive that Jesus did not change His mind about ALL that he taught us regarding The Way.

Fr Gerald and Robert Royal, I must say, my greatest concern is the mild resistance to such bald error and dangerous propositions that would and probably already is misleading souls that could have negative eternal consequences. Also, Fr Gerry, I think you put an ultramontane emphasis on the pope's role. It's inarguable the primacy of the petrine office (Mt 16:18), however, it's equally true that all the other Cardinals and Bishops have binding and loosing authority (and arguably all priests, religious & laity who defend & promote Magisterial teaching as the sensus fidelium) Mt 18:18.

Please allow me a correction from my European point of view, the German bishop Franz-Josef Overbeck of Essen is not a cardinal (thank God!), he is a very liberal, yet simple bishop.

As Ted McCarrick and his friend "the brilliant Italian gentleman" discussed: "give him five years and he (Bergoglio) could 'remake' The Church. Sounds like when The Kenyan told us that he would "fundamentally transform" The United States.

Father mentioned the teaching coming from the bishops, not the lay people and the church is hierarchical in nature. So, if the lay people have a vote as to what comes out of the synod, doesn't this just simply invalidate the synod as a teaching instrument?

It does not have any teaching authority. It can only be a consultative body.

Yhis is a church, not a country. We dont need a legeslative branch with a house of representatives to vote on which parts of Gods Word we follow. If one doesnt like yhe church, leave. Be hot or cold.

Changing Apostolic Tradition means a rejection of Vatican II-which described the Magisterium as grounded in Scripture and Tradition.

I hope that when we get an actual Catholic Pope he makes Fr. Murray a Bishop. Heck, I hope they jump him right to Cardinal.

So essentially the Pope did a Pontius Pilate and put Christ on trial again. What is truth? But Pope/Pontius did not wait for the answer! He judged Christ guilty just to please his friends (errant priest and Christ devoid laymen.

My question to the cannon lawyer is that - what course of action is available against the dubia cardinals( who together with their promotors) deliberately misinterpreted & misreporting the popes response towards blessing of people who are in homosexuality relationship. What action is also available towards the channels who repeatedly published the falls report.

That comment by the Bishop just so the extent of the lack of trust in God and lack of faith or commitment to God's commandments

Step one to breaking Apostolic succession has been announced. They are breaking Apostolic tradition. Turning the Synod into a democratic process.

Actually, the Roman Catholic Church was synodal before the Great Schism, when the Pope declared himself the sole authority. That's why the Schism occurred.

@EireAbu I was attending the Roman Catholic Church here for a while, but they don't offer full communion, and they think Mary was immaculately conceived herself, and they preach purgatory. I am attending the Orthodox Catholic Church now. They're still apostolic, and they don't have the scandals.

So if this bishop wants to throw out apostolic succession then he loses his office and becomes an important lay person and the Pope would be a super important lay person that gets to live in the Vatican? They would lose all their power, I thought power is what they wanted.
