This past January I was eating an omelette and a piece of egg kind of got stuck in my throat, so I coughed, the egg didn't dislodge. So, I took a breath in to try again and that time it covered my larynx and I actually choked. Thank God I was in a fancy resort and the table next to us had a nurse at it that was able to help me. I almost choked to death when I was 10 and I couldn't make any noise and my dad asked if I was okay and i couldn't respond and I was embarrassed and I tried to walk away and he kept asking and followed me and I would have died if it wasn't for him. Keith, that's not how choking works. If you can cough it's still choking, it's just not a complete air way blockage. It is totally possible and likely to be minorly choking and coughing and then instead of coughing it up it gets worse and becomes serious choking that requires intervention/help.
