Dr. Davis is one of my favorite people to interview. In this podcast, we talk about the many benefits we both have found from consuming L reuteri yogurt for the last year. Dr. Davis is very knowledgeable about L. reuteri and explains why it is so important for us to restore this missing microbe. Tune in to learn more.

I have noticed remarkable improvement since I've been using it. I have a rescue kitten that I found starving a couple of months ago. She's healthy now but when she yawned her breath would knock you down. Her teeth, even though she was young were yellow as well. I started giving her about a teaspoon of this yogurt when I had mine each morning. I would say it's been about three weeks and she no longer has bad breath and her teeth are whiter. I'm not exaggerating either. Seeing the profound difference it has made on her makes me realize that stuff is really amazing.

I have been making and eating the L. reuteri yogurt since last November. First of all, I am 75 years old and my gut has never worked so well in my entire life. I eat it everyday and my health has improved significantly because of this yogurt. I recently wanted to make a double batch in order to give some to a friend. I had bought both the Osfortis and the Gastrus brands of L. reuteri. What I did was to make this double batch with both types of L.reuteri. The results were amazing. The combination has produced a very thick and creamy yogurt without a lot of the tangy taste. I absolutely love this new combination and will continue to make it. We have nicknamed this yogurt, "Turbo Turd Yogurt", because of what it does to make the gut work so well👩🏻‍🍳😂 I always make it with Jersey cow half and half.

My microbiome studies extend into my garden. Seriously, composting rehabbed the soil and my gut followed right along behind it. I mulch oak leaves to replenish what the veggies extract. The refrig is full of ferments coming from that miracle taking place in the yard. The microbes do the work..outside and inside. Somehow, I am participating in an ecosystem even if don’t have all the details.

@@danaharden6283 I got introduced to JADAM via Huw Richards a UK Gardner. Bought the book and have doing organic ferments for the garden. It makes sense that this approach is coming from Korea, a culture that’s been farming for thousands of years in an area with limited expansion. The US should have learned from the dust bowl…but alas, agriculture continues with extensive tillage. What I learn of fungal networks, encourages limiting interference with fungi because they literally FEED plant roots. Not wanting to break the underground feeding chain…

I added L. Reuteri "yogurt" to my diet one month ago and eat it daily. About one week ago I was getting a massage and, while laying face down, my massage therapist asked me how much weight I have lost. I told her that I have not lost any weight and the I could tell that since I haven't been exercising (I also lift weights) as much since rotator cuff surgery I felt that I have lost some of the firmness that I had. She said, "Well, your waist is telling a different story because it is visibly smaller than it used to be!" Also, I was back at CrossFit (with limitations) one month after rotator cuff surgery and released with no restrictions (although I do need to build up my strength) after only 12 weeks post-surgery. I attribute this MAJOR success to clean eating, which includes raw milk kefir daily.

In 2019 I had a surgery and they removed a lot of hemorrhaging intestines which left me with chronic diarrhea. I am praying this will help me return closer to normal. This is great information, but just FYI guys, if you are only lifting weights for 10-15 minutes a week, and you also purposely avoid heavy weights, you aren't going to need "recovery" from that and it doesn't really help your case to claim L Reuteri is the reason why. Try working out 3x a week for an hour with real loads, to the point you are sore the next day and report back to us how your recovery goes.

❤ I am 80. For years i have eaten almost no sugar. I am also a hypnotherapist and have (for 30 years) guided regression for trauma clearing for suffering people. (PTSD, also, weight loss, stop smoking, etc) Coming from the mental health world, I feel like my remarkable health and looking 20 years younger than i am (few wrinkles, quite mobile, no drugs or health insurance, etc) nonetheless lives on the edge of falling apart because I work by clearing emotions stored in physical symptoms and especially from guidance from dreams. Further, as miraculous as this work (power of the mind) is, when I think of all the mental health issues in this world, i have had to fight despair. Two weeks ago I learned about Dr. Davis's work. My first client (yesterday) was a nurse who needs to lose 130 pounds. He already knew about your work (wheat belly, etc) and was unable to take action from what he knows. We will see! I deeply appreciate your work! Dr. Davis's honesty, his metaphors, his comfort with helping the whole person, especially our mental health, is wonderful. I especially appreciate his putting cause and effect in its rightful place....(i actually wrote this a moment before the good doc mentioned cause and effect). I now feel some hope for the whole person and the future. You two are talking at a wonderful level that i don't hear in other interviews with Dr. Davis. Thanks to Donna's wonderful ideas!

Soreness after exercise is due to fascia tightness, not muscle strain/growth. The l.reuteri must be affecting the hyaluronic acid and collagen that build and lubricate the facia. When the facia is hydrated and healthy, soreness associated with workouts is minimal.

The most important thing that you can do, prior to and once you build your flora back to stable levels, is stop putting substances in your body that destroy the flora. Alcohol, antibiotics, white vinegar, smoking, some medications, chlorinated water, and essential oils. There are several more that plummet your PH levels and contributes to the problem.

The thing is, usually what is anabolic decreases lifespan. For instance there is a study on mice where giving them extra testosterone decreased lifespan by a lot. IGF-1 and growth hormone also tend to decrease lifespan. I would like to know how a kefir yogurt would affect lifespan in animal models. Supposedly people above 65 years old benefit from more protein to fight sarcopenia so in that case more anabolism would be a good thing.

Hi Dr. Davis, thanks for your videos. We tried your process (from your book and podcasts) using a sous vide wand in a pot of water but when the fermented dairy was done (at 36 hours) the temperature was 125 degrees!!! Here's what we did. We used a sous vide wand in a pot of water. I tested this prior to the diary placing a quart mason jar with about 24 oz of water in it into the water in the pot with the sous vide wand. I set the sous vide wand to 104 degrees and after an hour the water in the jar sitting in the water in the pot got to about 100 degrees. I check this 3-4 times thinking this can work. Following your recipe, did the process with the 10 crushed tablets, 2 different capsules and inulin. We placed the mixture into 2 qt mason jars (half each) and 36 hours finished this morning. We kept checking the sous vide pot water temp, which was 105 and the dairy in the jars at around 104. At 36 hours after removing the jars and checking the temp, the fermented dairy was 125 degrees!!!! We killed our very first batch of L reuteri. We are very bummed but realize it could be any number of things. Maybe as the dairy hardens in the jars it retains more heat??? We used half 100% Grass-fed Ultra Pasteurized whole milk mixed with ultra pasteurized organic heavy cream (16oz each). Just guessing. I thought the sous vide method was going to work wonderfully since others on YT did this. Donna Schwenk recommends (in podcasts/KZbin) a few different yogurt makers and I've seen similar on Amazon but none have temp controls like a sous vide or an Instant Pot Pro where one can dial in precise temps. Any thoughts? Suggestions welcome!

Look into zylitol nasal spray; they say it kills a lot of bad bacteria by killing the hard outer shell of the bacteria in the nasal cavity and makes a slippery surface that bad bacteria can not stick to. You can buy it or make it. Also chewing 6 grams of it a day in gum after meals cut down ear and sinus infections significantly and also cuts down on cavities. I personally just ordered it so haven't used it yet but do chew the gum and it has made a difference. It is a prebiotic.

I had permanent sinus blockage and pains problems since I was a small child and even had to attend hospital to have them drilled out which then involved wearing a bag on my nose afterwards to catch involuntary discharge. The problem never went away it was diagnosed as Chronic Rhinitis by my doctor who could offer no cure, I had beconaise nasal sprays however these only ever gave a minor reduction in symptoms. Last summer I started with Dr. Davis's L. Reuteri yogurt and noticed many benefits including a 100% cure to my almost life long sinus problems at age 59. It seems like a miracle but I guess it's just great science and common sense application of medical knowledge by Dr. Davis. I've just added a post which lists the main health benefits I've experienced so far.

You are the second show to inspire me 🙏🙏😊 “Do you know what I’m saying?” 😊 I’ve ordered mine - albeit capsules. Does it have to be Yoghurt, and if so, does the yoghurt in-the-making require to be kept at 100 degrees the full 36 hours (presumably Fahrenheit)? I thought I’d take the capsules whilst waiting for the yoghurt..do you know what I mean 😊. And break open a capsule to make the ferment…. You do look sensational, Donna 💗. By the Way I make a Red Cabbage, carrot, herbs and spices Sauerkraut for my dogs and the difference is dramatic. Just in case you’re wondering, I make one for myself too but it has red onion in it, onions being toxic to dogs… Keep up the good work.

Followed your recipe. Out of the 8 , 6-ounce jars, there is 1 that was more sour than the rest. Very noticeably sour. All of them had some separation. They were all submerged in 98 to 100-degree water in a flat-style yogurt maker for 36 hours. They all tasted great to me Perhaps I didn't mix them thoroughly, although I did crush them to a fine powder.. Nonetheless, would the one that was the sourest be the best one to use to make my second batch, as it may have the highest concentration of L. reuteri, and make the second batch less separated and more potent? Donna, i was so shocked when you said your age! You look wonderful! So healthy and glowing. I have read Dr Davis books. I was so excited to try l.reuteri yogurt. I have methane sibo with histamine intolerance, and the yogurt caused a huge flair, so i had to give it up. I tried different strains, i tried cooking for a shorter period, itried everything i could think of…i wrote to Dr Davis website, but nobody had any suggestions. If you have any knowlwdge of a resolution, please let me know. I cannot eat any fermented foods either, because of the HIT. I am hoping it will go away when my sibo is cured, so i can eat fermented foods again. I wanna look like you!

Consult a Functional medicine doctor or a herbalist & do a herbal-antibiotic course for a few weeks then try the super yoghurt. Also I have heard even after killing off a good number of SIBO bacs, your intestine needs a few more days to heal, so try Glutathione as well. But consult your Functional medicine doctor.

I've just discovered the world of fermentation, etc. I asked my rheumatologist about changing my microbiome and he stated that you can't change it because it was formed in your gut during your gestation. You and Dr. Davis seem to be making a case that it can be changed? Btw, I also just learned of Dr. O'Mara who is very much aligned with the fermented food, HIIT exercise and carnivore style diet. I started carnivore about 4 1/2 months ago and have lost about 45 pounds but have plateaued. I think of this diet more as a sugar-fast and am looking forward to starting the L.Reuteri and see where this all goes. I am currently seeing a Dr. at Mayo clinic as well as my "usual" rheumatologist and they are concerned that even though I am on a strong biologic my ANA, CRP, Inflammation Markers are insanely high they are considering if I may have Lupus. I am hopeful that this regimen will help?!

I appreciate your heart to help others and have learned so much in the past month. Have got your book “Cultured Food for Health, found it interesting but still feel so overwhelmed about where to start in making ferments. I have found local products to purchase like fermented pickles, sauerkraut, coconut kefir and coconut water and try to have about 2Tbsp. Daily of some combination. I heard Dr. Davis mention one of the microbes that reduces glyphosates, which fermented food contains this? I work with a naturopath and have tested high in glyphosates, taking supplements but would love to include more foods to help. I can’t have caffeine so avoid kombucha and have to be dairy free so unsure about making yogurt etc. Can we get your products in Canada? Do you have a guide for where to start? I’m 65, women and would love restore my health, Lord willing. Thank you for your advice! Very much enjoy your program.

My culture has become so tart. I have a jar of my first batch that I am tempted to use to start over. How long is the fermented yogurt good to start another batch. I have made about 6 batches so far. I tried using the frozen whey but that was the beginning of my next batches being so tart. So instead of loosing an entire batch as a first batch, i thought I would try the one try the starter from the beginning when I first started. Thank you in advance!
